The LG DLEX3470[W] is part of the clothes dryer
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer
models like the DLEX3470[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.
About This Brand
This company is known for its TrueSteam dryers and the designer colors available for its models. Some models have a steam generator intended to eliminate wrinkles. Prices for LG dryers range from $700 to $1,200.
Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.
Custom programs This feature allows you to save your favorite settings.
Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
We purchased a home last year and the LG washer and dryer came with the house. The dryer is horrible! The clothes never dry. Last week I did a small load of 2 items, a flannel night shirt and a cotton t-shirt. Put the dryer on normal with more dry setting and it came out wet, even when I use very dry it's damp. If it's a load of towels or synthetics, the clothes will either be damp or burning hot. If it is a smaller load the dry sensor can't read the dampness and if it's a larger load the sensor can't tell it's dry. It's really a flip of the coin.

I would not buy a LG and Consumer Reports' needs to re-evaluate their testing protocols. I called LG about servicing the dyer and the cost doesn't justify, you're better off buying a new dryer.

Easy To Use
Working great. Very high tech compared to my old top loader. Super quiet and sophisticated. I have my washer and dryer stacked and it's great. I can reach the controls and I'm only 5'2. The cycles take longer than my old washer but you also have the turbo wash option and a bigger load takes longer to wash. Very impressed with the technology of these washers. The dryer is great too.

Sheets & Mattress Covers
I use this dryer for everything, towels, bedding, everyday clothing & permanent press. It is very quiet and my permanent press shirts come out looking darn near ironed. No permanent press shirt looks ironed, but this dryer does better than my 11 yr Maytag ever did and the Maytag was a very good dryer.

I certainly can't speak about reliability yet, but the brand does get a high score in that respect - I'll keep my fingers crossed that they are as reliable as my Maytags were.

I don't understand the performance issues some users have, this dryer works great for me!
