Comment:
I have always been a Cascade fan UNTIL NOW. Cascade Action Pacs do not work in my one year old, expensive dishwasher (bought based on CR's highest ratings and have loved it). The Cascade pacs leave a filmy, gritty, sticky residue on my silverware and glasses. Even worse, the strong odor left behind makes eating from the dishes very unpleasant, which has caused us to rinse them before using.

Recently, I have had major stomach issues and assumed that something that I had eaten was the culprit. Oddly the problems would get better during the week while I was working and not using dishes at home and worsen on weekends while eating mostly at home.
Then, I drank ice water from a plastic cup that hadn't been rinsed, my esophagus burned terribly. I immediately dumped the water and drank ice water from a paper cup which eased the burning sensation. This product may or may not be the culprit, but the sticky, filmy, gritty residue left behind is reason enough to switch. I am switching back to my previous tablet dishwasher product, which we were very happy using!

Comment:
I've used this product for a long time and noticed glass items starting to look white and cloudy over time. At first I was able to remove the cloudiness with additional washing but after many months it has now gotten to a point where the cloudy build up appears to be permanent. Even with steel wool/brillo it does not come off. The problem is in drinking glasses and pyrex containers that get frequent washings. I need to figure out how to fix this but so far have had no luck.

Comment:
We have the Kenmore Elite dishwasher. The filter is a wire screen type. After about a month of using this product, the filter was completely clogged and required replacement. System works great with non-pac type products.
