Comment:
Remember when powder detergent got lumpy or caked into a brick and didn't work well anymore? Powder pacs like Cascade Complete can have the same problem. From my experience, they have a finite shelf life, particularly in warm weather. So although smaller packages are more expensive, they are probably the way to go. Rule of thumb for freshness: the powder in the pac should be a fairly uniform white color. If you see yellow splotches, the pacs have likely gone bad, and you will not get as good performance. The new opaque packaging makes this harder to see on store shelves (but was probably added to keep kids from trying to get into the candy).

Comment:
I have not done any head to head comparisons, but I can say I have experienced none of the problems reported by others here. I am using a fairly new and hi-end GE dishwasher. These work fine for me.

Well water ( treated) and older dishwasher with 120 degree water. Left residue and taste. Pak did not fully dissolve. Do Not Buy. Will switch back to other brands that work. Learned lesson if it is not broke .......
