About This Brand

Hoover introduced its first vacuum in 1907 and has established itself as one of the most recognizable brands in America. More recently, Hoover was bought from Whirlpool by TTI Floor Care, the owners of Dirt Devil. Hoover sells a wide variety of uprights at mass-market retailers, with models ranging from as little as $50 to $300. It also makes hand and stick vacuums, canister models (about $80 to $300), deep cleaners, central vacuums, bare-floor cleaners, and an outdoor sweeper, though the company is best known for its uprights.

Comment:
After 1 year the motor intermittently cuts out - seems to be a bad connection between hose and canister. Carpet head release button broke. Wand extend/collapse collar broke. Carpet head rotating brush slows down when the vacuum is turned on and returns to normal speed only when the vacuum speeed control is completely off. Replacment parts have to be ordered from China. This is not the old style Hoover quality, it is a cheap [*]-made substitute.

Over heated from day one. Hoover said too bad you bought you own so it has to be repaired. Authorized repair was told cannot take repair stock but must wait for 'warranty parts' to come from [*]. It has been eight weeks and counting and this was recommended by Consumer Report?

Comment:
The unit over heated repeatedly after only 15 min. of use. Manual said check for blockage and there was none. Hoover said take it to an authorized repair dealer. They checked and returned it. Still over heated so the service repair took it in saying it needed to be completely rebuilt. After THREE weeks still waiting on parts from Hoover. I will never buy another Hoover product. Over 400 dollars for a vacuum and instead of replacing it I am told to take it in for repair after two weeks of use and then three months of back and forth waiting on parts I am forced to buy a second vacuum to clean my house. Rest assured it will not be a Hoover product.
