REDESIGN YEARS 2004 • 2008 REDESIGN YEAR 2008
This generation has two significant warranty extensions of note:
2005-07 models with the 2.0-liter engine had the warranty for the intake camshaft, camshaft follower, and fuel pump extended to 10-years/120,000 miles (10040959-4284).
2006-09 models with the 2.0-liter engine had the warranty for the PCV crankcase ventilation valve extended to 10-years/120,000 miles (10043026-6562).
2005-08 A4s with the 3.2-liter V6 might need a software update if the engine stalls at idle when the coolant is warm (2010890); 3.2-liter V6 models may also need an updated injector if it takes a long cranking time to start the engine after driving a long distance (2020891); 2.0-liter four-cylinder models may need a revised oil pump intake pipe if the oil pressure warning light comes on at temperatures below 14-degrees Fahrenheit (2017076); others may need revised caliper piston seals if there’s a “muh” sound or a moaning noise from the front brakes during a slow stop or low-speed turn (2016681); and some cars might need an updated A/C compressor if there’s a rattling noise (2017084).
2008-10 A5s might need updated shock mounts if there’s a cracking/creaking noise from the rear (2022562), some might need a software update if the fuel gauge doesn’t display full after the car is parked on an incline (2017835), and some might need revised door handle sensors if the alarm sounds without reason (2020192).
2008-13 A5s may need an updated hood contact switch if a “Low Oil Level” message is on even after refilling the engine oil (2023967).
2009-10 A4s might need a software update if the fuel gauge doesn’t display full after the car is parked on incline (2017835).
2009-12 A4s with the 2.0-liter engine might need the crankcase pressure regulating valve and front crankshaft seal replaced if there’s more than 0.5 quarts of oil consumed every 600 miles (2032796); some might need a software update for the transmission if there’s harsh engagement of reverse gear during engine warm-up (2020452); some might need a software update if there’s a shudder on acceleration below 15 mph (2022600); and some might need a revised heating/cooling system drain hose if there’s moisture in the front foot well (2024644).
2009-14 A4s with the 2.0-liter engine may have an oil leak from the upper engine area (2020483); some might need updated ball joints if there’s a creaking noise when steering or driving on uneven roads (2024317); some might need an updated front guide link (wishbone links) if there’s steering wheel oscillation (2024687); and some models might need a shim adjustment on the left flange shaft for howling, droning, or scraping noises from the front under light acceleration (2028650).
