Summary:

This model was updated in early 2013, after CR designated it a Don't Buy Safety Risk because an unharnessed child could "submarine" beneath the grab bar. His legs and torso could pass beneath it, but his head could get stuck. The child could be killed or seriously injured. Mutsy has redesigned the grab bar and eliminated the submarining problem. Look for samples with a manufacture date of 01-2013 (JANUARY 2013) or later, when buying.

We re-tested the stroller with the new grab bar design, and it is very good.

Ease of use: Ease of use is based primarily on ease of using and adjusting the safety harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting backrest, lifting and carrying, engaging wheel brakes and car seat removal and installation (only for compatible strollers). Maneuverability: Maneuverability is assessed by trained staffers on how well the strollers maneuvered S-turns through cones, narrow sections, grass, dirt trails, uphill, downhill and curbs while walking. Safety: Safety is assessed by testing for compliance with the most current version of the standard, ASTM F833-11, and stability and usage tests designed by Consumers Union.
