BMW 3 Series Overview

Overall the 3 Series is excellent, with impressive ride comfort, noise isolation, and fit and finish. The turbo four-cylinder makes the 328i quick yet frugal, achieving 28 mpg overall, and the 335i uses a smooth and punchy 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder. Handling is very capable, but steering feel is less sharp than previously. Our main qualm is about the coarse engine idle. The diesel-powered 328d gets an impressive 35 mpg overall. A hybrid, a 180-hp 320i, and a wagon are available. New for 2014 include the AWD Gran Turismo and a M3 sedan with 425 hp, 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine. Reliability of the gas four-cylinder has been average, the six-cylinder is much below average.
