Permission Requests Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports® magazine, ConsumerReports.org®, and other information products, is a nonprofit organization. We encourage educational and non-commercial use of our content by schools and others. The nominal fee we charge is reinvested in our testing and publishing programs. Written permission is required.

Requests to reproduce Consumer Reports® articles are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please review our No Commercial Use Policy.

Requesting Permissions

Educational organizations, please submit a written request to:

Be sure to include the following with your request:
  • Your school name, address, the grade level of the students
  • Number of copies you plan to make
  • Description of how CU material will appear (including surrounding text), to show context. If all or part of the article is to be reprinted in another publication or document, include a sample of that publication or document

Higher Education Use

For permission to use our content in higher education, ask your school if it is registered with the CCC (Copyright Clearance Center/Academic Permissions Service). If it is, click the CCC link to the right. If not, see Other Permissions, below.

For Other Organizations and Professionals

Use of Consumer Reports in whole or in part is forbidden without prior written permission (and is never permitted for advertising purposes). Address requests to CU Permissions Dept., 101 Truman Ave., Yonkers, NY 10703-1057.
