CR Model Summary
The outgoing A4 has a nicely detailed interior and a firm yet compliant ride. The front seats are comfortable, but the rear is cramped. The 3.2-liter V6 is quiet and delivers power readily. The noisy 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine feels coarse and is a bit sluggish with AWD and the automatic. Midrange power is strong, however. The wagon is stylish but not spacious. A convertible is available. Reliability continues to be average. Crash-test results for the sedan are impressive, but the convertible wasn't as good in the IIHS side-impact test. A 2009 redesign with a roomier rear seat and other upgrades arrives this fall.
