Swoopy styling and modern powertrains are highlights of Chevrolet's redesigned midsized sedan. The new sedan has more rear-seat room, so long-legged passengers can stretch out. Up front is a roomy, comfortable cockpit and an updated version of Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system. Two four-cylinder turbo engines are offered: a 1.5-liter with a six-speed automatic, and more powerful and refined 2.0-liter backed by an eight-speed automatic. We got 29 mpg overall in our test of the 1.5-liter. A new hybrid version, utilizing some of the Chevrolet Volt technology, is also available. In tests we found the Malibu quiet, with a comfortable ride and responsive handling. The old car has been renamed Malibu Limited and is now sold mainly for fleets.
