Chevrolet Colorado Overview
GM's small pickups, the Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin, are more maneuverable than full-size trucks and better equipped than their Nissan and Toyota competitors. Buyers can choose a 200-hp four-cylinder or a 305-hp V6, both backed by a standard six-speed automatic. V6 versions feature a tow-haul mode. A four-cylinder diesel is expected this fall. The ride is rather choppy, but handling is responsive. Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are available. Inside are the latest electronics, including the MyLink Bluetooth audio system. These are the first small trucks to offer forward-collision and lane-departure warnings, and a backup camera is standard.
