Dodge Avenger Overview
The Avenger, like the related Chrysler 200, is an outdated and outclassed family sedan that has now ceased production. On the plus side, the ride is compliant and the optional V6 is strong and smooth. The noisy and unrefined 173-hp four-cylinder gets only 21 mpg overall, the same as the 283-hp V6. The six-speed automatic doesn't shift particularly smoothly or quickly. Though the soft suspension provides decent isolation, it also allows frequent body motions, and handling lacks agility but is secure. Rear visibility is lousy, but the interior is nice and most controls are straightforward. The Avenger has been discontinued.
