Comment:
This is a wonderful piece of hardware (great screen, great sound, fast processors) that has a very limited apps collection. And that's intentional, because Amazon prices excellent hardware low as a sales tool. The best apps--Firefox, Chrome (browser), g-mail, Google Maps, Google Now, Nook, etc.--are not available on the Kindle (you can side load, but I haven't been able to get that to work well).

If you understand and are happy with the strengths and limitations, this is a great tablet. If you want a very broad choice of apps, you will not like it.

If you are going to download video from Amazon Prime, get the 32 MB model (or larger) because the files are large.

Prime Video Is Great
Comment:
I came from the ipad, and the HDX is better in most ways. Being able to download movies from Amazon Prime to watch offline is great. No need to have a huge, expensive mobile data plan to be entertained on the go. And this cannot be done on other tablets, whether you are a Prime Member or not.

With over 100K apps, every possible category is covered with lots of options in each. Free app every day too. The hardware is the best out there. The best screen, fastest processor, lightest, lower cost than competitors.

I have only used the Mayday once, but it's a great feature. Much better than having to go in to a store and make an appointment to ask how to do something. That just seems antiquated now. Just hit the button and get a live person on your screen to help you. Amazing! No one else can do that.

Best technology purchase I have every made.

Comment:
Panasonic image app states that it is outdated. Kindle support said I would have to load pictures from my lumix zs30 to a computer and then to the kindle fire. I found this to be unacceptable and sent it back. Other than that the tablet was really great. I wish they had fixed the problem because my main reason for buying it was to store and view pictures.
