Gave my Nexus 7 to my wife and bought this as Adobe Lightroom Mobile isn't available for Android yet. Plus, working in IT I like to check out Apple products from time to time.

The good news: first rate hardware and strong networking. The bad news: The closed nature of iOS really limits it's usefulness for many tasks and 3rd party apps. A couple examples - No swipe/traced text entry. Instead you get a s_l_o_w soft keyboard with very few speed options. Want a number, you need to hit a dedicated key to display numeric keys (etc). Downloadable swipe apps can't integrate with the OS, so it's open one app create text, copy all, paste into the app you originally wanted. Similarly, X-rite color calibration (which works directly within apps on android) isn't permitted to do so on iOS. Need correct colors, close what you are using and open image in x-rite app.

Admittedly, I'm not the average target user for an iPad, but I really expected more on the software side. For someone looking for a simple device that looks good, yes, this is probably a better choice than android.

I bought the mini to take on a business trip instead of my laptop. I was able to stay in touch with my office the entire time without lugging the laptop around or looking for a business center.
I have been having numerous vision problems but stubbornly hold on to my books and magazines. When I downloaded my first e-book, I was amazed at the display. I no longer rely on guessing as I read. Reading has become a pleasure again.
A problem occurs when reading, the screen will change from vertical to horizontal even though I did not try to do that - seems very sensitive. In addition, there is no way to increase the size of the reading pane so the font is larger.
