Ford Transit Connect Overview

Originally developed as a European delivery van, consider this Ford Focus derivative a minivan substitute that can seat five or seven. With its boxy shape and very tall roof you'd be hard put to find any car with more passenger space for the money. That and its very good ride and agile handling is where the good news ends, though. The Transit Connect remains a rudimentary vehicle at heart, with an underpowered four-cylinder engine, low-rent interior, cumbersome folding seats and skimpy feature set. Unlike with a minivan, you don't get power doors or a rear-seat entertainment system, and even Bluetooth connectivity costs extra. The base four-cylinder managed only 21 mpg, and we see little indication that the up-level 1.6-liter turbo four would do much better.
