A BRIEF LEGAL HISTORY
In 2003, The Sharper Image sued Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, after we judged its Ionic Breeze Quadra air cleaner "ineffective" in an October 2003 report. In 2004, the company's product-disparagement lawsuit was dismissed, and in 2005 The Sharper Image paid CU's attorneys' fees and costs totaling $525,000.
