Style trumps function in the CC, with its snug interior, compromised visibility, and difficult cabin access. But unlike many newer Volkswagen designs the CC is enjoyable to drive, with agile and responsive handling and a taut, composed ride. The 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is strong and returns 26 mpg overall with the 6-speed sequential transmission. A stronger 280-hp, 3.6-liter V6 and AWD are optional. The interior is very well-finished and comfortable up front, but some controls are awkward to use or hard to read. Some features like a sunroof and rear-view camera are only available on higher-trim models. Reliability has improved to average.
