Detailed Test Results
PICTURE QUALITY. This model, like all of the other models in our Ratings, had excellent picture quality when playing 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs. It did very well with standard DVDs, displaying the best detail possible.
EASE OF USE. We found the model to be easy to use, overall. The remote was mostly easy to use. Its fit to the hand is excellent and Thin and light and has a notch for positioning. The onscreen menu was highly intuitive and easy to use.
SPEED. With its quick-start feature enabled, the startup time became 6 seconds. It had a faster 4K UHD Blu-ray and HD Blu-ray disc load time than many other models of around 20 and 13 seconds respectively. The DVD load time was typical of many models -- 13 seconds. The eject time was 5 seconds, typical of most models.
INTERNET FEATURES. It's an Internet-capable model with a full Web browser. At the time of testing the firmware version was 1005, which included these streaming services: Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, VUDU, CinemaNow, YuppTV, Netflix, Pandora, AccuWeather, Plex, Crackle, Facebook, CNBC Real-Time, Fandango (M-GO), Web Browser.
CONTROLS AND CONNECTIVITY. The player has a good amount of useful features. It has built-in WiFi for wirelessly connecting to a home network, handy if you don't have a nearby Ethernet jack. Has screen mirroring feature which conveniently shares and displays a compatible mobile devices display and content through the player to a connected TV. The player is DLNA certified, so you can access digital photos, videos, and music stored on a PC, phone, tablet, or other device connected to your home network.
ABOUT FIRMWARE VERSION: Our test results are valid for the version of firmware indicated. If your Blu-ray player's firmware differs from the one shown you either have an older or a newer version of firmware. Manufacturers may periodically upgrade the Blu-ray player's firmware to enhance operation, fix bugs, or add features. Firmware upgrades are downloadable directly to your Blu-ray player via a wired or wireless network (if internet capable), USB port, or memory card, depending on your Blu-ray player's capability. You can check your Blu-ray player's firmware version, or upgrade to the latest firmware by pressing the menu button on your remote and navigating to the appropriate submenu, typically under Settings. Consult the user manual or manufacturer's website if further guidance is needed.
