    Induction cooking has been around for generations, but only in recent years have the prices of induction ranges shrunk considerably. And with incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act passed last year (you can get rebates of up to $840 for the purchase of a new electric range, including induction), replacing an old range with an induction model seems more worthwhile than ever.

    What’s more, induction ranges are far more efficient than gas or radiant electric stoves and cooktops, resulting in better performance and in some cases saving on energy bills. In our tests, they heat faster and simmer more steadily. Better still, you probably already have cookware that works with induction: Cast iron and most stainless steel pans are compatible. And cookware manufacturers have even started adding an induction-compatible base to pans that previously wouldn’t work with induction, like aluminum and anodized aluminum. 

    With budget induction ranges, you’re typically not missing out on great stovetop or oven performance, just some nice-to-haves, such as convection or WiFi. Here, we’ve highlighted three of the best budget induction ranges from our tests.

    How We Pick the Best Budget Induction Ranges

    All of the models below are great options for the budget-minded, offering solid induction performance for under $1,500. In addition to excellent value, they have the following in common:

    • They heat fast. Each of these models can bring 4 liters of room-temperature water to a near-boil in 10 minutes or less, faster than any gas stove currently in our ratings.

    We test budget induction ranges the same way we test all ranges: by using a combination of calibrated time and temperature measurements that assess how evenly an oven distributes heat and how quickly a cooktop warms water or how steadily it maintains a simmer.
