The Ecovacs U2 uses a random pattern to successfully clean floors. The vac's round shape was a disadvantage in coming close to edges and corners and the side brushes didn't always touch the edges. Most of the hair it picked up made it to the bin instead of on the brushroll which is a feat many robot vacs do not accomplish. This model is similar to the U2 Pro but without the larger dirt bin or all rubber brushroll. This model is compatible with the Pet Hair Kit that comes with the U2 Pro (the Pet Hair Kit can be purchased separately). The U2 Pro coupled with the Pet Hair Kit performed better in pet hair testing than the U2 without the Pet Hair Kit. The vac easily traveled over cords even with some slack and climbed over a .75 inch threshold. The mopping function of this product was not tested. It traveled over a square of matte black carpet in the lab. Features: Cleaning Modes: Quiet, Standard, Max, Max+ suction. Auto, Edge, Spot modes.
