    Detailed Test Results

The Shark IQ RV1001AE excelled at navigating our test floors in a grid-like pattern and even maneuvered over a dark carpet in the lab. Its wide-sweeping side brushes moved slowly and seemingly were not that strong which was proven by a very low Edges score. The brushes are strong enough, however, to scatter debris around the floors. The vacuum was able to pick up some of the embedded powder in the carpet but there were other models that were more impressive. It was able to pick up the test pet hair but the hair did not make it to the bin and was stuck in the brushroll. The "self-cleaning" brushroll was easy to clean but required manual effort to get the job done. Once the bot is docks, a vacuum in the docking station automatically sucks the contents from the bin into a container in the base. It avoided getting caught in rug tassels and power cords and it easily maneuvered over a .75 inch threshold in tests. About

The Shark IQ RV1001AE is part of the Vacuum Cleaners test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Robotic Vacuums models like the IQ RV1001AE are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Carpet: Shows how much surface litter (cereal, rice, and peas) and embedded dust the vacuum picked up from a medium-pile carpet.

Bare floors: Indicates the vacuum's ability to remove surface debris from a bare laminate floor.

Navigation: A composite score that includes combined coverage over multiple runs, clearance under furniture and obstacle and entrapment avoidance.
