Just in time for Baby Safety Month in September, Amazon’s September Baby Sale is an ideal time to stock up on CR-recommended and lab-tested baby gear. Our experts have put thousands of baby gear products to the test in our onsite labs, pushing strollers up and down curbs, stretching and straining pacifiers, testing bottles for bisphenols, checking high chairs for stability and ease of cleaning, and so much more. We put every piece of baby gear we test through its paces, so you can find the products that’ll perform for your family day in and day out.
Here are the CR-tested products, across strollers, pacifiers, baby bottles, high chairs and more that you can get at a discounted price during Amazon’s September Baby Sale, which runs from Sept. 1 through Sept. 15. Most products in this list are around 20 percent off, making it a good time to stock up on both big purchases (that jogging stroller you’ve been eyeing) and basics (who doesn’t need back-up pacifiers?).
Best Car Seat Deals
The Britax Poplar convertible car seat is designed to accommodate children between 5 and 65 pounds and offers extended rear-facing use up to 50 pounds, making it a good choice for families looking to keep their child rear-facing for longer. CR experts say rear-facing is the safest way for children to ride in vehicles. The Poplar offers excellent crash protection and uses flame-retardant chemical-free fabrics, and the seat pads are both machine-washable and dryer safe. This convertible car seat offers plenty of convenient features, such as a tensioning and lock-off mechanism to help secure the seatbelt or lower anchor strap during installation, and a no-rethread harness.
The Graco Extend2Fit convertible car seat performs well in CR’s tests, and allows extended rear-facing, up to 50 pounds, with increased legroom for rear-facing kids. It also has a no-rethread harness, push-on LATCH connectors, and two recline bubble indicators to help make installation easier. It’s usually priced under $200, but now at 20 percent off, it’s an even smarter buy.
The Britax Grow With You ClickTight is a top-rated seat with excellent overall performance combining ease of use, booster fit, and fit-to-vehicle. The ClickTight technology is easy to use to help provide secure installations. It is a heavy and bulky seat, however, that may not be best if you’re moving it between vehicles often. But installation is streamlined and straightforward, and instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Best Stroller Deals
The Baby Trend Passport Switch modular travel system features a well-performing modular stroller and the Baby Trend EZ-Lift 35 Plus, which is a straightforward seat that also performs fairly well in CR’s tests. The stroller is smooth and responsive, has a reversible seat, and easily converts to "pramette" or carriage mode to accommodate a newborn. It can self-stand when folded, too. The stroller frame is on the larger size, however, as compared with some other modular stroller models in our tests.
A lightweight car seat carrier, the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go EX delivers strong performance in terms of safety, ease of use, and maneuverability. In spite of its name, the car seat doesn’t snap in; it rests on two strap supports and is secured by another strap, which helps it accommodate many styles of infant car seats. The stroller’s light weight (14 pounds), compact folded size, and ability to stand when folded make it practical for travel and storage. It can’t be fully folded with one hand, and it lacks one-touch brakes and an adjustable handle. But it’s a well-priced and convenient option.
The Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Double Stroller car seat carrier can accommodate two infant car seats for twins or two babies relatively close in age, and its value and convenience are hard to beat. It’s also quite easy to use, though it doesn’t feature an adjustable handle or one-touch brakes. It also meets Disney parks’ stroller-size requirements.
This top-rated double stroller seats two kids, including infants under 6 months old. (But be sure not to start jogging with your children until they’re over 6 months old and you’ve talked to their pediatrician.) The Bob Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie aces our safety tests and offers a smooth ride, thanks to its air-filled tires. CR’s testers found it easy to navigate, with a smooth ride for both passengers. It has a large storage basket, an adjustable handle, and one-touch brakes. But it leaves a large footprint when folded, and it doesn’t allow for a one-handed fold, so it’s a little trickier than some other models to collapse.
The Bob Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 is a highly maneuverable jogging stroller, gliding smoothly during tests, and testers found it quite easy to use. It also does very well in our safety tests. That said, at 29 pounds, it’s heavy and not ideal for quick trips in and out of the car. It’s also not the easiest to unfold or carry. But it does have a comfortable, height-adjustable handle and one-touch brakes, which make it pleasant to push. The stroller can accommodate an infant under 6 months old with an accessory, though we recommend not jogging with an infant younger than 6 months old (and check with your pediatrician first). It’s also not car-seat compatible as sold.
The Bob Gear Wayfinder is sturdy and solid with excellent maneuverability. Its air-filled tires make for a smooth ride, and one-touch brakes are an added convenience. Its safety performance is very good, and testers found it easy to use. The stroller also has a height-adjustable handle and a very large storage basket with a zippered cover. It boasts a one-hand fold and stands folded, though it’s heavy at 31 pounds.
Best High Chair Deals
The Maxi-Cosi Moa is a compact high chair with several conversion options, including an infant high chair, a toddler high chair, various booster seats, a low stool, and a table.
It ranks well in CR’s tests for being one of the easier high chairs to clean. Both the straps and seat pad are machine-washable, and the tray insert is dishwasher-safe and provides very good coverage to catch spills. It’s easy to use, too, thanks to a one-hand tray release and an adjustable footrest. Overall, it offers excellent versatility with a minimalist design, and switching between the various modes is uncomplicated.
Best Bouncer Deals
Assembly couldn’t be easier for the Ergobaby Evolve 3-in-1 Bouncer: Just open the box and unfold the bouncer. It’s easy to move the bouncer from room to room (for safety, remember never to transport the bouncer with the baby in the seat), and it has three recline levels and folds flat for storage. We liked the supportive and well-padded seat and the fact that it includes a newborn insert, which means you can use this seat even with smaller babies. It has a smooth, responsive bounce motion, though the toy bar is a separate purchase.
Best Baby Bath Deals
Angelcare Soft Touch Baby Bath Support
The Angelcare Soft Touch Baby Bath Support is made for babies under 6 months of age. It’s not so much a tub as a one-piece mesh recliner meant to be placed inside a larger tub filled with water. After use, it can be wiped down and hung to dry. This lightweight and inexpensive bath support won over our safety-conscious testers for being simple and straightforward to use.
Best Baby Monitor Deals
The Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor is a WiFi video baby monitor that offers all the basics, including solid video resolution, two-way talk, room temperature and humidity detection, and motion, sound, and crying detection. The Nanit app is easy to use and intuitive, providing live stream video with a split-screen view for multiple cameras, sound and motion notifications, and a nightlight feature, and an upgraded subscription service offers even more features our testers appreciated. The Nanit Pro also tracks sleep trends and includes a wearable device to track breathing, although we don’t test those features, and we recommend that anyone interested in a monitor with health tracking discuss it with their pediatrician. While the Nanit Pro is HSA/FSA eligible, it’s not an FDA-authorized device.
CR tested the previous version of the Owlet Dream Duo (Gen 2), and found it to be high-performing in CR’s tests. While we haven’t tested the Owlet Dream Duo Gen 3 in our labs, we found that the previous version offered plenty of parent-friendly features, including multiple cameras with high-quality video resolution, two-way talk, and 4x digital zoom. The Dream Duo includes the Owlet Dream Sight monitor and the Owlet Dream Sock, an FDA-cleared wearable baby monitoring device that provides health-tracking information, making the Dream Duo eligible for purchase with HSA/FSA funds. Used together, the Owlet Dream Sight and Dream Sock offer room temperature detection, humidity detection, motion detection, sound and crying detection, pulse reading, oxygen saturation, health trends, and sleep trends. Upgrading to the app’s paid version offers even more insights.
Best Safety Gate Deals
The Safety 1st Easy Install Walk Through Gate is a metal pressure-mounted gate that can swing in two directions. The one-handed open and close has a button and latch that both need to be pushed. The gate has a threshold, making it not an ideal option for the top of stairs, but it’s a good choice for using between rooms or at the bottom of stairs.
Best Nursing Pillow Deals
Boppy Nursing Pillow
Boppy has updated the design of the classic nursing pillow it had been using for three decades, bringing it up to compliance with new regulations. “Boppy took its iconic shape, kept everything parents loved—like its machine-washable cover, its comfort and quality—and made it firmer, more supportive, loftier for a better latch and an easier fit for all body types,” according to a press release from the company. Changes to the design include a wider opening, firmer cushion, new shape, and larger surface area. In Consumer Reports’ independent evaluation, the new product meets our safety criteria based on the latest regulations and is a safe, supportive choice. Similar in shape to Boppy’s new nursing pillow, the Luxe version is also made with hypoallergenic fiber fill and offers quilted, boucle or 100 percent cotton muslin fabric covers for a cozy feeding experience.

The pacifier comes with a built-in butterfly-shaped shield and uses the same nipple shape as Dr. Brown’s bottles, which may be helpful if your baby also uses those bottles.
Itzy Ritzy Natural Rubber Pacifiers
The Itzy Ritzy Natural Rubber Pacifier performed well in CR’s pacifier tests, earning top scores for strength, chemical composition, and our bite test. The pacifier is made from natural rubber and has a cherry-shaped nipple to mimic breastfeeding.
Itzy Ritzy Silicone Pacifiers
The silicone pacifier from Itzy Ritzy did well in CR’s pacifier tests, performing well across chemical composition, strength, and bite resistance. It features a wide shield with two large air holes for ventilation.
Nuby Silicone Softees Pacifier and Teethers
Made from one piece of 100 percent silicone, the Nuby Silicone Softees did well in CR’s pacifier tests, earning top marks for chemical composition and strength, and did very well in our bite-resistance test. The textured handle is designed to double as a teether to soothe sore gums.
Tommee Tippee Ultra-Light Silicone Pacifier
With its one-piece, ultra-lightweight design, this symmetrical silicone pacifier is intended to be used any-way-up, which may help keep your baby soothed for longer. In CR’s pacifier tests, it offered good bite resistance and earned top scores for strength and chemical testing. The 6-18 months size and 18-36 months size are also on sale for Amazon’s September Baby Sale.
Best Baby Bottle Deals
Dr. Browns Natural Flow Anti-Colic Options+ Narrow Baby Bottle 4oz/120mL
With their narrow opening, these bottles might be slightly harder to fill than some others on the list, but the parents we surveyed were generally happy with these bottles. One NICU mom said the extremely accurate measurements made the bottle a must-have. If you opt for this bottle, save more time for cleaning because there are numerous parts. A sterilizer may come in handy.
Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Anti-Colic Options+ Wide-Neck Glass Baby Bottle 5 oz/150 mL
If you want to try a glass bottle, this is a great option to consider, according to the parents in our baby bottle user study. These bottles have a wide opening and clear, durable measurement marks for easy filling. Some parents warned about occasional leaking and said there were too many parts, and cleaning could be an issue. “These bottles have a lot of pieces because of the anti-colic insert, which can lead to a buildup of a lot of dishes in the sink,” one mom said. “But having the vent pays off in the long run.”
Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottles with Natural Response Nipples (Medium Flow, Flow 3)
Simple to use, with few parts and a wide opening, this bottle was rated very easy to clean by parents in our baby bottle survey. Its lightweight design can be easier for your baby to grab onto as they get older. As one dad in our survey shared: “The bottle is way easier to fill than other models because of its wide lid and minimal simplistic thread design. Filling doesn’t require a super-steady hand, and unscrewing requires just the right amount of pressure to secure the liquid and allow for easy opening.”
Tommee Tippee Natural Start Anti-Colic 5 oz BPA Free Baby Bottles, 0+ Months
In CR’s tests, parents gave top scores to the Natural Start bottles from Tommee Tippee for being simple to use with few parts, which makes for easier cleaning, and clear measurement markings. Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles have a lightweight design, according to the parents we talked with, and a short, easy-to-hold shape. Multiple types of cleaning tools work with the bottles because they have a wide opening at the top. “It’s anything but difficult” to fill, one parent said.
Best Diaper Bag Deals
Itzy Ritzy Mini Diaper Bag Backpack
The Itzy Ritzy Mini Diaper Bag is a compact bag with a roomy interior and well-placed pockets. The rubber bottom protects it from wear and tear, and a U-shaped zipper opens the entire front of the bag, giving full access to all the interior compartments. It has two open fabric-lined side pockets that easily fit bottles and keep them firmly in place. The Itzy Ritzy Mini also includes a vegan leather changing pad that’s lightweight and folds compactly. The front pouch seems ready-made for your smartphone, though your phone will fit in the sides as well.
