What Owners Say
"CD player has gone brain dead and will not remember the location of where it was playing when the car is shut down. Each time you start the car, it goes back to the beginning of the disc. Dealer quotes outrageous price to remove and check the syste"
Anonymous, TX (2004 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"It stopped working. Also the GPS will not boot up"
James K., IL (2004 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"When a CD is inserted into the player, it causes the entire Navigation and CD system to crash and reboot. The CDs will not play though the radio and Sirius XM are unaffected. I brought it to the dealer and was told (based on my description of what was happening) that the entire CD device would have to be taken out and sent to Alpine Electronics since the Acura dealer does not repair these units. The cost would be over $800. As of now, I have not had the unit repaired since the car is 15 years old."
Robert M., CA (2004 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"I can no longer play any CD's, nor can I get any out."
Anonymous, (2004 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"About two years ago, the CD player stopped playing CDs. If I tried to insert a CD, doing so froze the radio controls (volume and channel changing) if I was playing the radio (Sirius XM) at the time I inserted the CD and caused the built-in navigation system to reboot. I had the dealer check out the problem but was told they do not service or repair the units, that it has to be taken out and sent to Alpine (the manufacturer) for repair or replacement at a cost of over $800. The dealer's comment was, "No one plays CDs anymore anyway" and he guessed that the problem may have had to do with the belt drive. I would have had the unit repaired but the car was already 14 years old, but in otherwise great shape."
