What Owners Say
"When you start the car, it comes up as "Tape Error" everytime. To rectify, you reselect a channel on the radio, satelite or tape but it has been a problem identifying and repairing the short"
Anonymous, AZ (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"In dash CD changer stopped playing CD's and would not load or eject disks. Was told by dealer it would cost close to $800 have the stuck CD's removed"
Sam R., CO (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"GPS display freezes, which also freezes the radio display"
Al S., CA (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The time and temperature display screen, near the top of the dash goes blank from time to time"
Anonymous, NC (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"clock, climate control, radio display dims or goes black. I have to tap the dash to bring it back. Dealer says it a $500+ computer replacement"
Joseph C., AZ (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"blue tooth did not turn off when car turned off.. caused battery to run down"
Anonymous, CA (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"does not work expensive to repair."
Armando G., IL (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The GPS hasn't worked like it should since I've owned it. When I purchased it, I noticed the splash screen had a Honda H. It should have been the Acura A. Took it in and they were going to replace the whole unit. Then they realized the computer defaulted to the Honda software. Well the GPS screen also controls a lot of the bells and whistles for the heat and air. They fixed it and it was great until the battery completely died. Once it looses power the computer defaulted back to the Honda software. By this time the warranty had expired. I asked my Acura technician how I could fix it and they couldn't find an official fix in the official Acura trouble shooting data base. At that point I didn't want to throw money at the issue hoping they'd be able to fix it. I had read on several blogs this is a reoccurring issue. The car was serving it's purpose of getting me from point to point. The GPS itself has never really kept up with where the vehicle's physically location. It wold show me driving somewhere in a field or in the water etc. Even when it was 'fixed'. Yes, it would sometimes keep up, but then would eventually loose the location. Overall it's been a fantastic vehicle. The GPS was a BIG selling point at the time of purchase. I will more than likely try their last GPS CD update. Maybe it'll help. I'm positive I will hand the vehicle down to one of my children once they are of driving age."
Jeff C., OK (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"It stopped functioning. I have not tried to have it repaired because I expect it will be expensive. I bought a Garmin GPS. The Acura maps are out of date and a new disc is over $200. Just not worth it. The only problem is the clock is tied to system and satellites and out out by more that one hour"
Michael L., ON (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The GPS system does not work and therefore I cannot use the display screen to change any other options"
Richard J., IL (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"CD player failed"

Anonymous, TX (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The voice generator just produces static - otherwise the system itself works fine"
Anonymous, VA (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The navigation system quit working and needs to be repaired. One day I started the car and an error came up and said see your dealer about the navigation"
Anonymous, OH (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"THE UNIT HAD TO BE REMOVED AND SENT FOR REPAIRS -FOR $500"
Anonymous, CO (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The dash board clock won't keep the correct time. I lost some of the bells and whistles of the radio/climate control screen interface and the programed stations revert to old settings. I read the solution is to update the DVD software/firmware. Acura was used under warranty when purchased. They updated firmware and GPS/clock interface worked fine until my battery completely failed and left car unable to start. Everything lost memory etc. when battery was replaced. The firmware relapsed to the version on the original DVD. So I lost all the interface updates and clock is no longer set to local time. So so VERY frustrating!"
Jeff C., OK (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The navi system stopped working last year and it is very expensive to fix it (reader)"
Anonymous, AB (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"Can't pair the phone anymore. Can't pair any phone. The voice control says no phones found."
Anonymous, TX (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"My phone is paired but the car keeps saying no phone found. I tried several times to fix it. OCCASIONALLY when I try it, the system will ask me who I want to dial but that's only happened maybe 2 times in the past year. Now when my phone rings I have to ignore it because the system will not answer it and I need it to be hands free. The compartment where the part sits..above my rear view mirror, gets hot, too which I read was a product issue and causes the part to fail. They said it was a flaw caused by Honda's rush to market in 2004 and they never really addressed it. My Acura dealer said replacing this part was like 800 dollars which is ridiculous. I researched the part and it's like 175..200 dollars and it's modular..would probably take 30 to 45 mins to replace. My mechanic charges under 100 dollars an hour labor so you do the math.."
Anonymous, NJ (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The phone pairing drained the battery and was turned off. Since that time we have had more battery type problems."
Anonymous, FL (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"Bluetooth receiver failed. Not worth the expense to replace. Additional issue: Left rear door window controller failed and replaced. Broken wire in the power window harness was repaired."
Anonymous, MD (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"Actually the Hands Free system. System drains battery due to system fault (probably cold solder joints that oxidize over time). Solution is to bake the unit at 350 for 10 minutes. I have done this twice in 14 years and it worked both times for a period of several years. Really a stupid fault because it causes owner to replace the drained battery - expensive, stupid and Acura is unethical in its response. Now about the Navigation System- My kids spent $100 to buy an update to the system software. Update doesn't recognize I66 or Mass. Ave in the DC area. Doesn't find the Lincoln tunnel in NYC. Places you 100 south of GW Bridge in NY. Is absolutely useless around MIT/Harvard in Boston. Actually, is useless in Boston anywhere. Acura blew me off. Nav company blew me off-wanted more money. It's OK. I like the Acura very much, but I will not buy another. They saved $100, but lost a $40,000 sale. Good luck with that business model, Acura!"
Anonymous, VA (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The bluetooth module failed well after the warranty period. I replaced it. It failed again within 6 months. I discovered a work around by powering a bluetooth speaker off the car."

Anonymous, TX (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The Bluetooth stopped working completely. The system kept trying to "boot up" but never could. It eventually caused a drain on my battery which caused the battery to go dead and the car wouldn't start if it was parked for a couple of days due to the"
Anonymous, CA (2005 Acura TL Base 3.2-L V6)"The link system was defective and was never able to be paired. Eventually the link box developed a 200 milliamp leak and the unit was removed from vehicle. This was in a service bulletin that Acura refused to replace and wanted $300 just for the pa"
