BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

Latest Model

2025 Model Redesign Year
The 2 Series Gran Coupe received an extensive refresh for the 2025 model year, bringing increased power, a new transmission, and updated interior controls featuring BMW's iDrive 9 infotainment system. The added power and the addition of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which replaces the previous conventional eight-speed automatic, results in quicker acceleration and an energetic feel out on the road, along with improved fuel economy. But low-speed power delays mar the driving experience. And while many of the controls are new, that doesn’t mean they are better--almost all of the climate functions are now located within the touchscreen, and most of them require multiple steps. Although the 2 Series Gran Coupe is based on a front-wheel-drive chassis shared with the X1, X2, and Mini Countryman, its handling remains nimble, and the car is fun to drive on a twisty road. The ride is quite firm.
The front seats are very supportive and comfortable, but the rear seat is cramped.

2025-Present

2025 Model Redesign Year
The second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe offers more standard equipment and options. Revised powertrains include a 241-hp, 228 xDrive and the high-performance, 312-hp, M235 xDrive. A seven-speed dual clutch replaced the previous eight-speed automatic as the standard transmission. The 228 xDrive and M235 xDrive launched first, with the front-wheel drive 228 sDrive Gran Coupe arriving mid-year. The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe has increased in length by about 1 inch, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. A new controls system is based on the updated iDrive 9 infotainment system. The ride is quite firm.
The front seats are very supportive and comfortable, but the rear seat is cramped.

2020-2024

2020 Model Redesign Year
Don't be misled into thinking the new for 2020 2 Series Gran Coupe is simply a four-door version of the 2 Series. The Gran Coupe rides on a completely different, less performance-oriented platform that it shares with the X1 and X2 small SUVs. Nonetheless, it packs a healthy level of BMW DNA and will put a grin on a driver’s face when the road gets twisty. Its front-drive-based platform only shows its limitations when the car is pushed to the limits. The standard 228-hp drivetrain delivers eager power through a responsive transmission. Ride comfort skews firm.
The rear seat is cramped and access is awkward. All-wheel drive is standard. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind spot warning all come standard.
