BMW 7 Series

Though laden with comfort, convenience, and safety technology, the large 7 Series is no longer the crisp, sporty, luxury liner it once was. Contrary to expectations, handling lacks agility, and the long-wheelbase 750Li we tested didn't shine at its limits. The ride is steady and supple but not as cushy as the best in this class, and many controls are complex and frustrating to use. On the up side, the 400-hp, turbocharged V8 is smooth, refined, and punchy, the roomy cabin is super quiet and impeccably finished, and seat comfort is tops. The 750Li scores too low to recommend.
