2027 Model Redesign Year
BMW’s first all-electric X5, the iX5 60 xDrive, goes on sale in early 2027 with an estimated driving range of 435 miles. It uses dual electric motors, producing a combined 570 hp and providing all-wheel drive. The synchronous primary drive motor at the rear produces 325 hp, while the motor at the front axle produces 245 hp and can switch off under low load to improve efficiency. A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port is standard and supports DC fast charging at speeds up to 460 kW. According to BMW, this means the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. The standard AC charging system operates at up to 15.4 kW.
The exterior takes styling cues from the X3 SUV, with large, flat wheel arches and narrow headlights, which form four X's. Bigger changes are inside, where the driver's gauge cluster has been replaced by a slim panoramic display that sits at the base of the windshield and stretches its width, working in conjunction with the standard 3D head-up display and 17.9-inch center touchscreen.
