"I have the X5diesel so the acceleration is slow due to the increased torque at low gears. Getting the car from 30-80mph is no problem at all. You'll barely get to 3000 rpm accelerating from 3rd to 6th. I've been told the steering wheel is stiff for the ride, but I appreciate it with the higher speeds."

"The seats are very comfortable! Ride and handling are great, Just what you would expect from a BMW sport sedan. Highway driving is very relaxing. can steer through turns and not notice any lean. I have a Lincoln navigator that also rides well, but requires lots of effort hanging on to the steering wheel at highway speeds in turns due to the high center of gravity. Leads to white knuckle grip on the steering wheel. In contrast, the X5 turns effortlessly and hugs the road in turns requiring no effort at highway speed. Range nearly 600 miles on a tank, makes longer trips a pleasure. MPG improves significantly at highway driving. First car I have had with auto dimming high beams. very convenient feature on back roads. Fit and finish are great on all interior details. Toggle for the Info system is the easy once one understands the process."

"BMW does not offer adjustable shoulder belts. As a result the harness rubs into my wife's neck. We had to get an ugly sheep's wool contraption to cover the harness. In addition the car does not have power steering, which we did not know when we bought it."

"My X5 is a diesel. The vehicle is solid and agile especially now that I have replaced the useless and expensive run-flat tires which made the ride stiff. The diesel is a gem for long drives but clumsy in the city. Now that the vehicle is getting older, replacement parts are very expensive. I just spent $5000 to replace air springs and bushings and regular maintenance. I am less than impressed with the dealer service dept. I would not buy another X5."
