What Owners Say
"Air springs worn out. Replaced. Car fine after replacement."
Anonymous, NC (2014 BMW X5 xDrive50i 4.4-L V8 turbo)"The rear air suspension will fail when the vehicle is parked on a hill or slope, causing the vehicle to drop on the bump stops. The air compressor will reinflate the rear air bags after a while, but the issue continues to arise. I will need to take it to a repair shop to get it repaired. I am considering switching out the air suspension with standard springs due to this being a common issue."
Anonymous, OR (2014 BMW X5 xDrive50i 4.4-L V8 turbo)"The wheels were lower than they were supposed to be and the car "bounced" while driving."
Anonymous, MD (2014 BMW X5 Unsure 3.0-L 6 Cyl turbo)"Real suspension air bag leaks resulting in lowered suspension and loss of shock support until car was parked with key off resulting in air pump slowly restoring air"

Anonymous, CA (2014 BMW X5 xDrive35d 3.0-L 6 Cyl diesel)"Air springs reached the end of their natural life and had to be replaced. When they failed, rear of vehicle dropped and rough roads made it undriveable."
Robert R., NC (2014 BMW X5 xDrive50i 4.4-L V8 turbo)"both rear air bags for the suspension gave up, leaving the vehicle uneven and extremely bouncy"
Marcial D., MA (2014 BMW X5 xDrive35i 3.0-L 6 Cyl turbo)"I purchased the BMW with 29K miles, after driving it for a few months I noticed that the front end made noise and was not a comfortable riding SUV. I noticed a rotating like noise after driving it for 16 months or so at 38k miles and when I took it to the dealer they said I blew a strut. The vehicle had less than 40k miles on it so after a nightmare at the dealer I had the 1 strut replaced and when I got it back the front end sounded worse so I then started to look for another vehicle. In March of 2020, I traded it in and purchased a Honda Ridgeline RTL-E. It was my first BMW and last. I expressed my dissatisfaction with BMW of North America but they were of no help. A CPO should go through a check of 150 parts. Obviously they did a horrible job inspecting as I only had it for 30 months, I needed brakes, a strut and a cracked air duct which I did not do. There was nothing that great about such an advaced driving machine but my honda will be just fine after 30 months as I have at least 2 of them in the past. BMW gets one star for looking good."
