Buick Encore

The Encore is a luxurious subcompact SUV that's a full size smaller than "small" SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. The Buick's overall length is comparable to a Volkswagen Beetle. Tall, short in length, and narrow, the Encore has ungainly proportions, despite some familiar Buick styling cues like a big chrome grille and portholes on the hood.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"I love the quick acceleration when getting on the highway. However with the a/c on the turbo seems to react sluggishly."

ELAINE N., AZ (2013 Buick Encore)

"It has lots of power and turns on a dime"

Anonymous, NY (2013 Buick Encore)

"Very satisfied"

ROBERT C., NC (2013 Buick Encore)

"somewhat under powered on the freeway"

DAN S., AZ (2013 Buick Encore)

"Love the size and ease of driving;however, on uneven surfaces it seems to be really loose, not a desire able quality."

Anonymous, MO (2013 Buick Encore)

"The Encore acceleration is good, the handling is excellent."

Patricia M., NY (2013 Buick Encore)

"Turning radius too large"

Anonymous, VA (2013 Buick Encore)

"Nice little car to get around town that has zip, handles very well and fun to drive, and has the open of manual shift for going down hills to save on brakes"

Anonymous, NY (2013 Buick Encore)

"The good is the fuel mileage, comfort (even for back seat passengers), handling (tighter suspension than I expected, pleasant surprise). The bad is the turbo lag, counter-intuitive to lighten your foot on the pedal to go faster. Like the turbo's trying to catch up with what I'm telling the engine to do."

Anonymous, IL (2013 Buick Encore)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Passenger seat has exceptional electric adjustments. I am short and am able to raise the seat so I can see out. Probably the determining factor for purchasing. It was actually the only car in this class, size, price range with this feature"

Anonymous, MO (2013 Buick Encore)

"The only negative is not enough cargo room and my 19 year old is very large and Encore is not. Rear seats fold down but not flat."

KATHLEEN B., IL (2013 Buick Encore)

"seats are very comfortable, ride is pleasant, low noise"

BRIAN R., PA (2013 Buick Encore)

"The center arm rest could be a little longer."

DONALD Q., MI (2013 Buick Encore)

"I don't know how to use my radio and navigation systems, but my daughter gave me, for Christmas last year two hours' free instruction, which I have yet to collect. Busy anyone?"

SUSAN O., OR (2013 Buick Encore)

"The head rest in front do not move. Has a back up camera,"

SUE C., IL (2013 Buick Encore)

"Seats could be a bit more padded for driver comfort."

RICHARD N., FL (2013 Buick Encore)

Anonymous, AZ (2013 Buick Encore)

"Rides like a much bigger vehicle (except in crosswinds) and with very effective noise cancellation system."

Anonymous, MD (2013 Buick Encore)

"The vehicle is very noisy. The noise cancelling has never worked right"

Ted C., GA (2013 Buick Encore)

"Cargo space too small."

Isaac B., NY (2013 Buick Encore)

"Seats not comfortable and too much road noise"

Anonymous, SC (2013 Buick Encore)

"The Buick is extremely quiet, rides like a big car, hardly feels the road, no mechanical problems since I purchased the car in 2013. Was surprised that you downgraded the 2013 Encore so much in last years auto issue. The dealer even told me that there are very few issues with the Trax & Encore models. They have been holding up well."

Patricia M., NY (2013 Buick Encore)

"I drive a lot in my work. The seats are terrific: comfortable, have lumbar support, are adjustable and heated. Noise level is so so . Ride is good, not amazing."

Anonymous, OH (2013 Buick Encore)

"Seats are smal and fairly uncomfortable"

Richard N., FL (2013 Buick Encore)

"Front seats are very comfortable and sit relatively high off the floor thus allowing more leg room. Noise cancellation doesn't appear to be working. Two different dealers had absolutely no knowledge about the system ; temporarily covering the headliner mics didn't seem to effect any increase in engine noise. . ."

Gary G., VA (2013 Buick Encore)

"Very quiet, comfortable seats"

Anonymous, IL (2013 Buick Encore)
