Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"It gives me a safe feeling to be sitting higher than I did in my Cruze. It feels solid in handling. It’s a little slow on acceleration and also makes a growling noise upon acceleration, meaning it’s a little louder than I’d like. Handling is generally good and responsive."
Diane R., WI (2017 Buick Encore)"Having had a Buick Ranier, I am surprised to find better acceleration and power, even though the former was a 8 cylinder and now 6 cylinders. I do miss the better turning radius of the Ranier."
Anonymous, NY (2017 Buick Encore)"Very quiet and comfortable ride; great turn radius; easy to navigate through tight spaces. Handles great in all weather. Engine is a bit underpowered and acceleration is slow/lagging. I do mostly city driving, so acceleration is not much of an issue."
Lori B., PA (2017 Buick Encore)"Acceleration is great, better than expected. Handling is nice and solid."
Anonymous, MI (2017 Buick Encore)"Handling is great but acceleration needs more power. I'm not a big fan of the turbo. I'd rather have a v6. Trabsmission needs to be smoother."
Donna C., OK (2017 Buick Encore)"My biggest complaint is that it is hard to see behind me when switching lanes; with all the freeway driving I do, it happens frequently, and I've been honked at several times (doesn't happen in the Camry)."
W D., CA (2017 Buick Encore)"The car handles well but acceleration is very slow."
Harry R., NY (2017 Buick Encore)"I previously owned a Lexus so I might be biased. It seems like when accelerating, on the highway for example, the Encore gets stuck in a gear (occasionally) and no matter how hard I push on the petal it won't go above a speed (EX 55) until I slow down and then speed up again. I think this is unsafe. I should always be able to accelerate without hesitation, not just sometimes."
Nyla G., TX (2017 Buick Encore)"Acceleration is quite good with the optional DI engine; the stop-start feature is non-intrusive and contributes to outstanding mileage in town."
Anonymous, AL (2017 Buick Encore)"Nice interior, nice exterior design, lethargic excelleration. Should make the 1.5 turbo in the cruze, standard in the Encore."
Anonymous, PA (2017 Buick Encore)"The acceleration is not near optimal and far less than available in out 2005 Jeep Liberty, which seems a dichotomy. One can compensate for this lack of immediate acceleration by increasing the thrust given the accelerator, but I would not categorize it as totally pleasing."
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Buick Encore)"This vehicle couldn`t be any better in handing, like a sports car really........ Acceleration, is about all my wife wants, and it is her car.....For myself, a tad more pickup when on highways would be better......."
Anonymous, ON (2017 Buick Encore)"Accelerates and handles well. Easy to maneuver in tight places. The backup camera is actually very useful."
Anonymous, MD (2017 Buick Encore)
"A fun vehicle to drive with plenty of oomph for accelerating on entrance ramps."
Paul B., TN (2017 Buick Encore)
