Underdeveloped, overpriced, and over here. That's the story of the Buick Envision. On paper, this new addition to the Buick family looks appealing. It's a semi-luxury, handily-sized SUV with plenty of standard equipment, emulating the concept of competitors from Audi, BMW, and Lexus. Built in China, where Buick is very popular, the Envision bridges the gap between the small Encore and large Enclave.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"2.5 4 cyl. engine is a little under powered. Under normal acceleration, engine revs to 3500rpm. I'm used to a stronger v6 engine. Since this car is brand new, I'm fearful it will be trying to find the right gear when traveling on an uphill freeway."

Steven A., AZ (2018 Buick Envision)

"Good performance and gas mileage. Buffets around a little in gusty winds - more than Enclave did. Seats are not as comfortable as Enclave."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Buick Envision)

"It has great acceleration in getting onto the highway and it's handling is very good"

Anonymous, CT (2018 Buick Envision)

"I find the handling very good for a small SUV. It is very sure footed, goes where i point it, has very good center on steering. The brakes work really well, again superior to the Equinox, however, I needed to get used to the pedal travel as it is a bit longer, Acceleration is a bit slower than the V6 in the other car in comparison, although it feels peppier than the Equinox. The 6 speed transmission in this car is far smoother and operates without hunting as in the former car and they are the same transmission. I do a good deal of highway driving and the care is really competent, quiet, has enough punch and drives like it is a rock. I am very satisfied with this car thus far."

Mark Q., NJ (2018 Buick Envision)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Very comfortable driving with seat adjustments. Rides well. quiet"

Paul A., MI (2018 Buick Envision)

"It is one of the most comfortable cars we have had and it is very quiet"

Anonymous, CT (2018 Buick Envision)

"Most comfortable seats ever. Not noisy. Rides like a dream."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Buick Envision)

"Very quiet ride for what you pay for. Much more quiet than any other car I have owned. Seats are great for long highway trips, and there is plenty of room for the passengers and luggage. Sometimes large bumps you hear but it is so rare it does not bother anyone. Family falls asleep in that car very easily. Handling is very good, tested a BMW X3 right after the Buick and both handle very well. More feel of the road in the BMW but you have to pay a lot more to get the same thing."

Samuel S., CT (2018 Buick Envision)

"I am very happy with the comfort, ergonomics and function of the vehicle. Everything is laid out well and intuitive. In addition, the car feels and looks very premium. Compared to my '14 Equinox it is superior in form and function. I had an LTZ and the dash had more buttons than a space ship. This car is very easy to use and I am very satisfied with the performance thus far."

Mark Q., NJ (2018 Buick Envision)

"Width of seat and controls for heat and lumbar"

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"This is an excellent choice for a luxury suv."

Anonymous, CT (2018 Buick Envision)

"when purchased it had a 20 percent discount"

Anonymous, NY (2018 Buick Envision)

"Since the 2019 was coming in May, at the end of April the dealer was willing to give me $14,000 off the MSRP. This made the fully loaded Envision with everything over $20,000 less than the equivalent Audi and BMW. Getting the model with the six speed instead of the nine speed transmission and not being able to turn the auto off function off was not important enough to pay an additional $12,000 for it."

Owner-satisfaction Ratings are determined by the percentage of those who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey "Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?". If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
