2019 Buick Envision Reliability - Consumer Reports
On paper, the Buick Envision looks appealing. It's a semi-luxury, handily-sized SUV with plenty of standard equipment, emulating the concept of competitors from Audi, BMW, and Lexus. Built in China, where Buick is very popular, the Envision bridges the gap between the small Encore and large Enclave.

Reliability

We expect the 2022 Envision will be much more reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2021 models. Select the used car model year to see reported issues with those similar past models.

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2019 Buick Envision owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling), loose interior and exterior trim or moldings, rust.

What Owners Say

Loose exterior trim or moldings

"The metal covering over the gas comes off during going thru the car wash. I did not notice the first time and the next day noticed that the door covring the gas cap had black plastic on the cover. I went back to the local carwash and they said just a minute they would go look. They came back with my metal covering. They said it happens all the time with Envisions. That the car wash rags push against the door and it opens a little. Then the blowers in the dryer open it the rest of the way. I witnessed this flying off another time when I watched in my rear view mirror. I have only had this happen at one car-wash. Had it to other car washes and it did not happen."

What Owners Say

Heater system

"In the fall when outside temps began to cool off, I wanted to use the heater. The coolant gauge would never move up and there was little to no heat available. This was totally opposite of my previous vehicle, also an Envision. As time went on and temps got colder outside, the temp would only rise if I was out on the highway. I took it to the dealer and they explained that the company new of this problem and fixed it as people complained. The antifreeze was not moving through the heater at all. Not sure how they fixed it, but it works better now. Still not as good as the previous car."
