Cadillac SRX

"The CUE display screen froze up and stopped working. The dealer wanted $115 to look at it and up to $1500 to replace if that is what they determined was needed. I found one online for $100 and with the help of youtube was able to replace it myself. Found that the small ribbon cable had evidently dried out and was broken halfway into. That explained why it would light up but did nothing else and remaind frzen on the one display."

"The display screen operates with a technology that is much less than any smartphone on the market, it is not good at all. We replaced the screen at the dealer and the new one works, but it does not work perfectly: the touch sense is mis-aligned slightly, overly sensitive, and the interface between screen and processor is slow, so when selecting an item, it oftentimes has a time-lag between touching the screen and the selection highlighting, and then the highlighted selection is oftentimes the wrong one. This is distracting to driving and ineffective in using the device."

"The CUE system touch screen no longer responds to touches. The gel used inside the screen has dried out and has lost its touch response. The CUE screen looks like a spider web and is unresponsive to any touch commands. It is just frozen on the last screen it was on and you can not use any functionality of the car that is tied to the screen and CUE system. Cadillac is aware of this issue and they will not fix the problem. They want to charge customers $1500 to replace the entire console."

"The low beams sometimes called the daytime driving lights are of little use at night. Ligting has become very very poor and I have to use the high beams or else I have to slow down 15 to 20 mph below the posted speed limit in order to maintain a safe driving environment when using the low beans away from city street lighting My research showws that this has been a problem for the SRX models from 2010 to 2016. and yet Cadillac refuses to acknowledge this problem even though thousands have complained. Research shows that if this major repair is performed at a cost of $1500 to $2500, depending on where your located and the dealer you use, the same thing reoccures due to the replacement components are also faulty."

"Headlights fade. They are not replaceable by the owner. I had to drive with brights on for 6 months, and now those have faded as well. I need to make sure I'm home before dark. It's several thousand dollars to repair because of tires have to be removed and car put up on a lift. Stupid location! Supposed to be LED and not die out. I will not look for a vehicle that I can replace the headlights on"

"Low beams are dim. There was a class action suit in California and so we got a notice. We took the car to the dealer within 3 weeks of the notice. The service rep said they didn't have the parts yet. We came back several months later after our vacation and were told that the deadline had past. The rep had not documented our visit and denied saying parts were not available. The service manager told GM that the parts were available at all times the car was eligible for repair including when we came in. I was insulted that the dealership was actually calling me a liar and I was disappointed in GM that they did not make this issue a recall. Only owners in several states were eligible and only for 3 months. This is a safety issue that GM knows about and it covers the model years for the SRX that are similar to mine. Just changing the bulbs will not solve the issue. It is a problem that has to do with how the headlight module was put together and the sealant that was used. I believe that in the suit GM denied that there was an issue even though there were a good number of complaints about the issue. As I recall, the issue is exacerbated in states with hotter temperatures and more rain. The sealant was changed in either the last year of production of the SRX or the first year of the XT5."

"The headlights on my Cadillac SRX are completely unusable if you are driving after dark karma or in any kind of Foul weather. The headlights are so dim that it is difficult to tell if they are even on after dark until you turn on the brights."
