    The Duracell 49 H8 is part of the Car Batteries test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Car Battery models like the 49 H8 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

    Life: How well a battery withstands repeated charge-discharge cycles in high temperatures. A higher score means better reliability and voltage retention over time.

    Reserve capacity: How long a battery can power a car if the charging system fails. A higher score reduces the risk of failure if accessories are left on.

    Cold Weather Performance: A higher score means more reliable cold starts. This test measures voltage after 15 and 30 seconds of cranking at 0ºF, using half the average claimed CCA, or Cold Crank Amperage.
