BMW X3 SUVs Recalled to Fix Rear Door Latches
It’s too easy for passengers to open the rear doors when they’re locked
BMW is recalling more than 40,000 X3 SUVs from the 2022 through 2024 model years because their rear doors can be unlocked and opened from the inside with a single motion.
BMW X3 Door Recall Details
Vehicles recalled: BMW X3 SUVs manufactured between Aug. 11, 2021, and Aug. 27, 2024.
The problem: These SUVs were built with rear seat door locking modules that may not fully conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard 206 Section 4.3.1. As such, rear passengers may be able to open the doors in a single motion without unlocking them first.
The fix: BMW dealerships will replace the modules free of charge.
How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may call BMW at 800-525-7417.
NHTSA campaign number: 25V106
