Hyundai and Genesis are recalling nearly 300,000 cars and SUVs to fix a problem with how the seat belts are attached. Recalled vehicles include the 2023-2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV, the 2023-2026 Genesis G90 sedan, and the 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs.

MORE ON RECALLS

The problem has to do with the lower seat belt anchor. After an investigation, the automaker found that this part can be damaged during routine repairs and maintenance, and as a result it might not be sufficiently attached to the seat frame. If it detaches, it could increase the risk of injury during a crash.

To fix the issue, Hyundai and Genesis dealerships will inspect the anchor and either reinforce or replace it, free of charge.

Hyundai says it is aware of six incidents and no reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to this recall in the U.S.
