Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs Recalled for Airbag Problem
Ill-fitting interior trim could prevent the side curtain airbag from properly deploying
Chrysler has announced the recall of more than 44,000 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs because of a potential problem with the side curtain airbags. The upper trim on the B-pillar (which is the one where the seatbelt is anchored) may not be properly assembled, and it could prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash.
A compromised airbag deployment could reduce occupant protection in a crash, which increases the risk of injury.
The Details
Vehicles recalled: 44,708 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneers from the 2022 and 2023 model years. The recalled vehicles were built between Feb. 24, 2021, and June 7, 2022.
The problem: Improperly installed B-pillar trim could prevent the side curtain airbag from properly deploying in a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect and reseat or replace the trim pieces as necessary, free of charge.
