The Colorado seemed promising when it replaced the S-10 in 2003. Since then, a number of better competitors have come on the scene. Its unrefined five-cylinder engine, which it shares with its GMC Canyon twin, is anemic and doesn't offer a fuel-economy advantage over a V6. Notable shudder plagues the ride, the seats are uncomfortable, and interior quality is lacking. However, handling is sound.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It's a truck;I know, but does the roll from side to side have to be so much? Also, at highway speed, there always seems to be a slight shimmy or vibration. It gets a bit tiresome on long trips."

"Great seats, normal noise for a truck, rides well both with and without loads."

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"This truck is dependable. It is never in the shop except for routine maintenance. On routine driving I get 23 mpg which is far better than I have read with other trucks. The truck bed is handy for all those homeowner hardware store and landscaping purchases. I get questioned about the year of the truck. When I say 2004, mouths drop. It is in mint condition with a;most 100,000 miles on it."

Anonymous, MD (2004 Chevrolet Colorado)

"I hear you guys say a lot of negative things about it but I haven't had any."

Anonymous, MI (2004 Chevrolet Colorado)

"The truck has been very economical to me. Mileage economy in the low 20's while every other truck from that era listed mpg in the high teens. I have had no maintenance issues other than routine upkeep. This was definitely a great buy."

Anonymous, MD (2004 Chevrolet Colorado)
