What Owners Say
"the display would freeze when I first started the truck. The dealer replaced the screen. No problem since"
Anonymous, OK (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"so far it only happened in hot weather this summer-clears itself when the interior cools down. Hasn't been reported to dealer yet."
Anonymous, (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)"the dealer replaced the screen, and upgraded the firmware, under warranty. Problem was fixed"
Anonymous, OK (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"The dashboard display would freeze or shift within 2 months of purchase. (Under certain conditions, I am prone to rely heavily on the advantages of the digital display). Dealer would reset. Finally display totally failed. CKT board was blamed for a short circuit with part cost OF $547 plus $295 for installation and "alignment". Although I had gone to dealer repeatedly with problem from within 6 weeks of purchase, they refused to cover because truck was nearly four years old. Although we had bought 3 vehicles from this dealer since moving here, unsure would use for our next one(s)."
Anonymous, TX (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"See previous entry about display screen"
David M., NV (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"when first starting the vehicle, the screen freezes, or the touch screen quits working. It has happened about 6 times. I took it to the dealer about 6 months ago, and the did an firmware up grade. However, the freeze up has happened twice since, and I have an appointment to have it looked over again."
Anonymous, OK (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"Screen went blank on several occasions. Lost all functions through the equipment. Back to dealer twice on this issue"
Larry D., NY (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"Not just the display screen going blank, the whole dash board lights/displays go dark. It seems as though there is no reason for this to happen, time of day, cloud or shadow, ??? I just had my dealer check this but they were unable to pull any codes from the computer??? Also recently the display screen did a weirdly, the most noticeable, the clock had stopped and nothing would function. After we had stopped/ parked with car off (shopping) and restarted things were back to normal"
David M., NV (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"Software update seems to have resolved the issue which was very intermittent"
Anonymous, NJ (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"Screen suddenly went blank and did not work for the 50 mile ride home. Once it sat and was restarted it worked fine and has worked perfectly ever since"
Anonymous, WI (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"There is a problem of which Chevrolet is aware with the radios installed in the W/T model, but which has not yet been remediated"
Anonymous, CT (2016 Chevrolet Colorado WT 3.6-L V6)"Infotainment system became inoperable. Due to faulty computer module. Replaced under warranty"
Anonymous, CA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)"The screen just started to go blank one day. So backup camera, etc wouldn't work. I took it into the chevy dealer. It was under warranty, they did an upgrade to the software. Good to go"
Anonymous, UT (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"We had several episodes with the screen going blank, eventually our Chevrolet dealer did a update to the system, that seemed to fix the issue. HOWEVER: instead of blank the screen dims to not quite blank and at odd times. I think that the sensor is not programed efficiently It does not adjust efficiently when driving through a tunnel or in a shadow area (mountain shadows), it is as if there is built in delay for the change it should make."
David M., NV (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"Only happened once. Humidity was extremely high for 24 hours prior. Also radio display does not wake up on last setting when humidity is high for long period."
Vaughn C., OK (2016 Chevrolet Colorado 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"the display screen would go blank on both displays. took it to dealer and they could not find problem, offered to replace radio"
Anonymous, (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"On start up, all display screens did not function. The gages were illuminated but all read zero. I got warnings that all safety systems were inoperable. I re-started and had same problem. I carefully drove home a short distance. After turning off engine and re-starting things seemed back to normal. This only happened once, but am concerned it may happen again."
Anonymous, TX (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"It is as if black plastic is overlaid the displays. It is not a dimming but a complete blackout. if dimmed certain elements are still faintly visible. (not in blackout mode! the dimmer switch has no effect aether) Recently we experience a blackout where even the clock stopped (from 1305 to 1341) OnStar would not connect nor was any part of the display visible. Including GPS. the AC and Radio continued to function but I could not see to change any settings. After shutting the vehicle off and on again things came back to normal. We have reported this to our dealer/Chevrolet several times and have them with a open complaint/notice on this. On a long road trip last Fall this weird blackout occured in broad daylight !?!? and the OnStar connection was lost also. A CHEVROLET dealer in Madison WI was able to get us connected w/OnStar again by doing a Global Reset"
David M., NV (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"When shifting back from reverse (when rear view camera is on) to drive, screen goes completely blue and will not display. Problem usually corrects itself if engine is shut off and vehicle is allowed to sit for a period of time, but will eventually recur."
James K., CT (2016 Chevrolet Colorado WT 3.6-L V6)"Doesn't always read the device. Sometimes won't play"
Brenda T., FL (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Base 3.6-L V6)"It was not consistantly working. A new module seemed to fix the problem"
Anonymous, MT (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"The GPS antenna failed to locate the vehicle. The navigation map was stuck in a single location. After taking it to the dealer, it was in the shop for 9 days to fix. The dealer spent more than 15 hours of labor time to diagnose and replace the HMI interface. It's unacceptable to have a vehicle with less than 5000 miles (at the time of failure) to be in the shop for 9 days for a nav system issue"
Anonymous, TX (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"Traffic information isn’t always available."
Anonymous, MA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)"Radio would drop out, antenna problem , repaired quickly by service"
Robert M., VA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)"Radio can not be entirely shut down at times. Can mute the volume, but it's on in the background and interferes with other radio functions like pandora. This has been a problem since the vehicle was new, and dealer unable to resolve the issue. "Radio functioing as it should." I am told."
Anonymous, (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)"After about 3 mo of operation, the radio control cable fell off the radio module."
Anonymous, MI (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)"Sirius radio will not play in town--same radio in Chrysler 300 plays perfectly in town."
Anonymous, LA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"Radio turns on by itself (un-commanded). Prior to engine shut down, selecting OFF on the radio and then shutting the engine down produces an un-commanded radio turning on with the 2nd engine start."
Daniel M., CA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)"Fails to understand voice commands"
Anonymous, CA (2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)
