The Silverado is an easy truck to live with, thanks to its comfortable ride and reasonable floor height. Access is fairly easy, as is cargo loading. The truck also offers generous towing and payload capacity. A six-speed automatic transmission aids acceleration and fuel economy, while selectable full-time four-wheel drive adds safety in slippery conditions.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"It has great acceleration and the engine has lasted."

    Cindy C., LA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

Anonymous, SC (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Great acceleration and stopping, excellent towing and 4wheel drive performance."

Anonymous, TN (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Cruise control doesn't work properly. Other vehicles I've owned kept the speed it was set at. This one will range anywhere from 5-6 miles over or under set speed. Have to keep eye on it constantly to keep from getting tickets. Extremely annoying!!!"

Anonymous, MS (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Acceleration can't be beat (in trucks and most autos). Stomp the gas and you're gone!"

    Jerry M., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Excellent acceleration and handling. There's enough power to merge in traffic."

    James B., MD (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

    "great acceleration"

    Tim W., NC (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"acceleration is good. when the road is wet/damp traction is not as good as I would like. Rear wheels tend to spin at the start after a full stop."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"everything. It handle better then the average car. It has the power to pass vehicle on a two lane country road"

Anonymous, TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Good acceleration. Tows very well. Moderate fuel mileage."

Anonymous, WA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"This truck has always handled more like a car than a truck."

    Mike B., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"5.3 L V8. No issues. Response is good. Fuel economy is good. Lacking a bit for towing but that could be the axle gearing."

    Nancy J., OR (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

    Frederick W., NJ (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

    What Owners Say

"Ride is comfy, seats are comfy. At 100000 km/hr the trim at windshield makes a rattling noise."

    Oiva L., ON (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Seats are comfortable, noise is acceptable and the ride is good for a truck especially of ruff roads."

    G H., WA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"The vehicle is quiet on the road, however the rear seat is somewhat less quiet than the front. The seats are a little short on comfort for vehicles of this price range."

    Diane T., OH (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Sitting up high has definite advantages. Long drives are not a problem as the seats are supportive. Some road noise is present at turnpike speeds, but is not annoying. The ride is good and improves when weight is added to the cargo bed."

    Richard W., NY (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Fabric catches lint and fuzz and is hard to clean"

Anonymous, IL (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

    "comfortable seats, low noise"

    T F., KY (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"This silverado is not as good as the 2000 I had. Ride is not as smooth and seems to be noiser"

Anonymous, CA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"This truck has always ridden very comfortably and still does after over 100,000 miles."

    Mike B., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Large, well cushioned front seats. Lumbar support driver's seat. Low noise level. Good ride. Takes bumps/potholes well. All in all, I am very satisfied with my Silverado. Wish I could afford a new one."

    Jerry M., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Steering wheel is offset to the right and the wheel itself is mounted at an angle. It is not parallel to the dash. I do not like it. You ca't open the door with the inside handle if locked. Chimes go off when you open the passenger door and the truck is in gear and foot on the brake pedal. Very annoying! No pocket for my sunglasses!"

    Nancy J., OR (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Semi bucket seats are very comfortable and wide. Could be a lot quieter. Eight years and just normal maintenance."

    Jerry J., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"seats are VERY comfortable; wind noise is noticeable"

Anonymous, FL (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"Considering that this is a 1/2-ton pick-up, I like the power adjustability and seat comfort, and the ride comfort. I wish I had gotten leather or leather-like seat covers, rather than cloth, because this is a farm truck, after all, with all the dirt and grime associated with farming and ranching."

    Linda C., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

Anonymous, LA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"I feel we paid a premium price when we could have gotten a better deal if we haggled more."

    Jerry M., TX (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"It does what I bought it for but I will probably buy a cover for the bed of the truck as it limits what I can carry in the back as the load is not secure against 5 finger requisition and loads that can be damaged by weather. That is not the trucks fault though."

    G H., WA (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

"I was able to purchase the truck at a great price. It is a lot of truck and has been handy for so many purposes."

    Richard W., NY (2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)
