    Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Road Test

    Introduction

This iteration of the Silverado is considerably improved over the previous model. It has a fairly comfortable ride along with easy access and cargo loading. A rack-and-pinion setup improved steering feel and response. Interior quality was also improved and the payload rating is generous. We appreciate the selectable full-time 4WD and standard stability control (optional on non-crew-cab versions) on the 1500. The diesel engine in the heavy-duty Silverado 2500 LTZ (which we also tested) proved to be relatively civilized. A backup camera display in the inside of the rear-view mirror is available. Stability control is standard on 2500 single rear-wheel extended and crew cab models with the 6.5-foot box.
