What Owners Say
"reception has become noisy,"
Anonymous, CA (2019 Chevrolet Volt LT 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)"I firmly believe that all updates should be done at the dealership so any of the problems can be worked out at the dealership not by the customer not by anybody else just by the people who are initiating the updates. this customer-based problem exists because updates over the airways sometimes don't work. Sometimes don't even need it. And mostly get screwed up. if these updates worked why is it that GM doesn't access your car and fix it while you're sitting there complaining about it to the OnStar people or to the GM people. I missed two doctors appointments because this freaking car wouldn't come out of park. No matter what I did. And GM did nothing. Not one little thing. Also when I purchase this car I was not told that I would have to buy a cell phone to get my map GPS to work in the car. that's an expensive proposition because now I'm looking at replacing the whole radio system with an aftermarket radio and I have to buy a bunch of other things to make the car work correctly because of the new radio. And I want that new radio so GM can't get into my car and update anything anymore. GM is not my favorite group of people anymore. they seem to have this idea that the customer doesn't know what they're talkin about while they do. And I've been finding too many predatory sales people out in the world. Lacey woman come in and the first thing they need they decide to do is overcharge. the second thing they try to do is pulling off some vehicle that they can't get rid of because it doesn't have a mat GPS in it so they don't tell you that it doesn't have a map GPS in it. Until after the sale."
Anonymous, FL (2019 Chevrolet Volt LT 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)"About a month after I received the car. We had to evacuate for a hurricane. I was on my way to Georgia. Stopped at a motel. Could not shut the car off could not lock the car 4 hours. Because some assholes decided they were going to update my radio it wouldn't let me shut the car off it wouldn't let me do anything or let me lock the car it wouldn't let me do anything and here I am over 300 miles from my home trying to get away from a hurricane. And the assholes at GM decide to update my f****** radio. This automatic updates s*** is for the birds. It's not for human consumption. Where is GM's head I think it's firmly up there ass."

"When the Volt encounters a smart phone that is not in its limited library of devices, instead of connecting with a standardized Bluetooth protocol (like cars did 10 years ago) or just refusing to connect, it completely disables the vehicle computer--radio, communications, navigation, climate control, everything; until the vehicle is shut down and rebooted without the offending smart device anywhere in range."
