Chrysler addressed a major shortcoming of the Grand Caravan by improving its interior flexibility. The second- and third-row seats can now be folded flat into the floor, ending the need to remove heavy seats. There's also more in-cabin storage space. However, the increased flexibility doesn't compensate for the number of areas where the Grand Caravan falls short of the better minivans.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    What Owners Say

"Good strong acceleration for highway driving"

James C., NY (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "Easy to drive."

    J N., TX (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Have been very satisfied with the driving characteristics of the vehicle, but I must add that I am Avery conservative driver. Will say that the stopping distance upon braking is a bit long, however."

Anonymous, IL (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It drives like a brick with wheels, as one would expect from a Dodge van."

David D., IL (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I like using the trip computer that gives me mileage and distance to empty which is very useful on trips."

Jerry O., AZ (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "Good power. relaxing drive."

Anonymous, OH (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Handles acceleration promptly , always steers good and brakes very well"

Anonymous, ND (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Driving was O.K. but accelaeration with 3.3L engine lacked oomph."

Richard P., ON (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Just doesn't have a good "umph" to quickly accelerate in traffic."

Lindsay M., ID (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Handling is nimble around bends and corners. We lived in a canyon with a winding uphill drive on a narrow road for several years and the van handled as well as any sedan."

Anonymous, ON (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I have the 6 cylinder engine and the power is adequate. I have had not major mechanical problems whit this vehicle so over all I am satisfied."

Jerry O., AZ (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Good acceleration and handling, other than having to replace the rack and pinion twice."

Anonymous, IL (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

    What Owners Say

"This car is equipped with captains chairs in the front and middle seats. They are very comfortable, and the front seats are powered so they are easy to adjust."

Robert D., WY (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very comfortable and roomy. Great on long trips."

Michael B., CT (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I love "stow n go". I would like it quite a bit quieter."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"On long trips is is like riding in an easy chair. Very relaxing."

Anonymous, OH (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"seats are very good noise is good enough ride is good"

Bill K., WA (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I have never fit the seat and there is no adjustment that will fix that. We've added an aftermarket lumbar support that improves it quite a bit. The ride is a bit harsh when commuting by myself. It actually rides better with 5 or 6 passengers - the added weight takes some of the roughness out of the ride. This van has so much wind noise now you swear a window is open. No doubt at 12 years old the weatherstripping has shrunk and left major gaps. This van tends to lean heavily in corners. You get used to it but it does not inspire confidence and when pushed hard it runs wide. This on a good set of Michelins. Tends to be hard on tires, especially the outer edge and we've never achieved more than about 2/3rds the mileage rating targets published by tire manufacturers despite rotating tires spring and fall."

William M., ON (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The driver seat is fully electronically adjustable. Both front seats have springs and good cushioning that absorbs road shock nicely. The overall ride is not great, but the seats smooth it out."

Anonymous, CT (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I have had several Caravans and they all have comfortable drivers seats. The 2006 have electric seat adjustments which is handy at times."

Jerry O., AZ (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "Somewhat noisy"

Anonymous, DE (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very comfortable, upright and durable seats"

Anonymous, ND (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "creaks and suspension noises"

Pascoal M., CA (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I think because it has more room the seats allow the driver to sit upright as in a chair. I find this most comfortable on long trips. The noise level is lower than in my old Caravan but there is more noise that some cars I have had."

Jerry O., AZ (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very comfortable car, especially on long trips. It is somewhat too noisy, but the ride is excellent."

Anonymous, NC (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Excellent for a 12 year old car"

James A., MI (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Vehicle came with leather seats that are nice in the cold weather. plus they are electric on both sides. Some noise from the windows, but the ride is soft and smooth"

Donald V., WV (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Long wheelbase equals smooth ride. Seats are utilitarian but comfortable in all three rows. Noise is higher than newer models but very good vs. cars."

Anonymous, ON (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Comfort: pretty good. Handling: not so much. Responds like the Queen Mary. I call this car Moby Van, the Great White Dodge. (It is white.) When fully loaded, scary to drive."

Anonymous, NH (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "Smooth ride."

Bernie B., IN (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan)
