Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time has marched on, leaving the Dodge Grand Caravan feeling dated and past its prime. At least the GC’s ride is very comfortable and settled, and passengers will find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility. Both the second- and third-row seats can fold away into the floor, a big convenience for times you need to maximize cargo space.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    What Owners Say

    "Great in traffic"

    Paul-Kari M., WI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"This particular van has been a disappointment after about the first month. It shifts randomly , doesn’t always accelerate when you push the pedal."

Anonymous, WI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It has quick excelleration when you need it in an emergency situation."

Anonymous, ON (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Seems i really have to press down on the accelerator to get the vehicle to respond...not as smooth as I would like."

Shawn A., ON (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Uses to much fuel to have give it power to speed up."

Jose B., CA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The Caravan handles well, but acceleration is an issue. It either struggles to accelerate, or it wants to redline when acceleration. It is difficult to find that middle ground with gas pedal where you accelerate relatively quickly, but the RPMs aren’t hitting the redline."

Anonymous, ID (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It accelerates quickly and handles beautifully."

Anonymous, OH (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"With the 283 HP engine it has great acceleration. It has good solid handling and a fairly smooth ride."

Francis C., PA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "very good acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, PA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The delay when you push down hard on the accelerator is annoying and makes gauging the level of acceleration difficult."

Ryan M., MO (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "great pickup"

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

    What Owners Say

"Crappy rough noisy ride but can't beat the convenience of reliability, ease of getting repairs, and most of all seating room and stow and go seats."

Rob B., MN (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Wish it had controls that remember each drivers settings."

Anonymous, TX (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The seats and ride are very comfortable The only problem is the road (wind) noise and engine noise."

Gerald D., MS (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"it's really noisy on concert roads, it's bumpy & rough riding, already needs shocks,(leaking).."

Luz R., NY (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very comfortable front seats and fairly quiet. Ride is stiff but I paid extra for that."

Anonymous, CA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The driver's seat has adjustable lumbar support which is great as my husband and I like it very different. The seats are comfortable for long rides. We thought the car was noisy but recently we've ridden on newly asphalted roads and it is much quieter so we are thinking it is the road."

Anonymous, OR (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "continus rattles"

Anonymous, MB (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Spacious interior. Comfortable seats. Loud rattles and squeaks from almost every part of the vehicle."

Kliff C., MI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Excessive road noise, on the Interstate you have to turn the volume up just to hear the radio."

Charles R., QC (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Such s nice ride with the van and so flexible with the sto n go seating, great people mover, just hard to manover for parking."

Larry B., ON (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The seats do not provide enough adjustment, they are hard and very uncomfortable. The dash often squeaks during ride."

Anonymous, FL (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"When driving long distances the seats aren't comfortable."

Anonymous, OH (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very good around town and on long trips"

    Paul-Kari M., WI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"This vehicle replaced my (stolen & totaled) 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan and isn't quite as comfortable. Although it has more adjustments, I don't think it is quite as comfortable. It's a bit noisy on highway driving. It also has terrible pick-up on acceleration!"

Anonymous, MD (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

    What Owners Say

"Van has had no problems in 6 years. Reliable, roomy, functional, yet still has power to pass cars on the highway when needed."

William M., MN (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"At $9,000 less than Toyota and Honda, it was a great deal although with all of the repairs and low reliability I wish I would have paid more to get a Toyota or Honda minivan."

Kliff C., MI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Great vehicle easy to repair and lowl cost to repair."

Anonymous, MN (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Exceptional value - all the goodies I want as standard, at a VERY attractive price"

Ralph W., OR (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Least expensive way to transport a family in comfort and safety."

Anonymous, WI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Bought the absolutely stripped-down Caravan. Didn't want anything fancy. Been on dealer's lot for four months. Purchase price was at $5,000 less than any other option we found (new or used!). Didn't expect much; didn't get much. Don't take particularly good care of it other than regular maintenance. Basically abuse it - is parked outside and exposed to salt water air, put a hitch on it to pull trailers, use it to haul cargo and people. Reliability has been remarkably good considering."

Anonymous, VA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "No Repairs just maintenance."

Anonymous, ON (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"since becoming crippled I need a vehicle easy for me to enter and wheelchair storage and dodge is cheaper than others."

Steve J., IL (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Good solid vehicle with nice styling for the price."

Francis C., PA (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The van has lots of features for the price"

Anonymous, ON (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

    "the fold down rear seats."

Anonymous, OH (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"This minivan was $9,000.00 cheaper than the competitors but along with the savings came less quality and reliability."

Kliff C., MI (2012 Dodge Grand Caravan)
