Sporty handling, relatively low noise, and a well-done interior make the Focus feel more like a small sports sedan than a humdrum compact. Though not blazingly fast, the Focus does get good fuel economy: We recorded 29 mpg overall in our tests for both the four-cylinder and three-cylinder turbo. Several flaws keep it from being one of our top-rated small cars, though.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"its too new to answer that question"

Anonymous, ON (2018 Ford Focus)

"Great acceleration with good fuel economy"

Kurt H., SC (2018 Ford Focus)

"Even though a small engine, with the stick shift it has adequate acceleration, no problem keeping up with traffic on usual 75 -80 mph interstate traffic, and getting 40 + mpg doing that. Handling at high speed on winding roads is exceptional, especially considering the comfortable ride."

L G., NJ (2018 Ford Focus)

"The Focus ST gives amazing bang for your buck! The engine is quite peppy, sounds great inside the car with the Sound Symposer, and has minimal turbo lag. The suspension is firm but still comfortable."

Gene W., TX (2018 Ford Focus)

"Good acceleration for a small car, quick and responsive."

Anonymous, MD (2018 Ford Focus)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Purchased the vehicle form sonandit replaces a 2005 FOCUS; price was $8000 below sticker, andeven though I know it's one of the cars Ford will probably stop producing, it rides and handles well, we had good experience with the last FOCUS over 15 years with limited maintenance required, and the dealer stands by his product."

Anthony R., VA (2018 Ford Focus)

"Extremely well equipped for standard model SE"

L G., NJ (2018 Ford Focus)

"I test-drove this vehicle and was impressed with it for the price. With the $4,000 rebate, dealer discount, and generous trade-in offer for my previous car, this SEL trim-level is a bargain."

John M., IN (2018 Ford Focus)

"I think it is a pretty good value but it is not what I really wanted. I got the cheapest car that I could stand to cram into for just a no frills commuter"

Kelley S., GA (2018 Ford Focus)

"We got exactly the car we were looking for with our 2018 Ford Focus SEL. The value of this car to ourselves is right on!"

Donald C., MI (2018 Ford Focus)

"Got a steal on this. $4000 rebate plus other discounts, came to about $6000 off. Didn't matter the trim level. Can't get a loaded car for near this anywhere else."

Geneva R., KY (2018 Ford Focus)

"Remote start often fails to keep running, even after multiple tries"

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Ford Focus)

"I bought at ridiculously low price. Best dealership experience in my life."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Ford Focus)

If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
