The Ford Fusion is agile and satisfying to drive, with a sporty feel. Its V6 engine and automatic transmission make for a smooth and responsive powertrain, the four-cylinder option is a bit coarse however. Additionally, Fusion's interior is well made and space is generous.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

“Good acceleration and handling.”

Anonymous, MA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“It's great to drive. Doesn't have race-car handling, but has nice acceleration. The AWD is fantastic in inclement weather. I always feel secure.”

Anonymous, PA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“excellant handling”

Anonymous, NY (2008 Ford Fusion)

“handling is excellent. Hold the road and takes curves with good control”

ALBERT M., WI (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Suffered uncontrolled acceleration, blamed by Ford on floormat - not true. Ford in denial on this problem. Fortunately no crash but we now mistrust this car and brand. Caused premature failure of all four sets pads and rotors. My wife stopped the car with foot pressure and handbrake simultaneous application. We switched to Fusion from a Camry, now will trade back to a Camry in 2016”

Anonymous, NB (2008 Ford Fusion)

“it's ok”

Anonymous, ME (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Acceleration going up steep hills is slow. The turning radius is very wide. Otherwise, the car performs very well.”

Anonymous, NY (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Seems rather stylish inside and out”

CHARLES T., TX (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Small engine lacks power on hills and for acceleration pulling onto highways with short entrance ramps.”

Anonymous, PA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Only bad is the transmission shifts to a lower gear too fast. Have to punch it to get power. Good- it drives smoothly and comfortably.”

JAMES W., TX (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Tires spin when you pull out if raining slit. Prefer all wheel drive but didn't have .”

Anonymous, GA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“As my other fusion this one is also a 4 cyl but has much better acceleration than my 2006. It handles very well in all road conditions except snow”

ROBERT B., MA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Love the way it drives, corners great, but the brakes are a constant issue. Pad and rotor life is very short even with factory brakes and rotors. Only thing I have found wrong with this car.”

STEVEN L., VA (2008 Ford Fusion)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

“For long car trips, the heated leather seats are a must. This car has taken us from the midwest to the east coast twice a year since we've owned it, and it's a pleasure to ride in. And the performance and handling for a mid-sized sedan is excellent.”

Anonymous, MO (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Wh.en driving on the highway I need to up the radio volume. The fan on high is also very noisy. The seats are very uncomfortable when driving long distances”

Anonymous, SK (2008 Ford Fusion)

“could been better”

JOE O., OK (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Driver seat heater failed just after warranty expired”

GARY K., AB (2008 Ford Fusion)

“somewhat noisy during acceleration but is quiet once up to cruising speed”

ALBERT M., WI (2008 Ford Fusion)

“I bought the car mainly because of the comfort on long trips”

Anonymous, PA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Legroom could be better given the size of the car. (Especially front seat legroom.)”

Anonymous, NY (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Very comfortable and handles good.”

Anonymous, MA (2008 Ford Fusion)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

“Modern style and appearance. good view while driving”

ROBERT W., NC (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Repair bills are adding up on this car. It has 72,000 miles on it and I have already spent $1200 on repairs on it this year. One more major repair within the next year or so and I am getting rid of it. I won't be getting another Ford product either.”

Anonymous, NY (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Bought used and have had no problems other than normal maintanance”

ROBERT B., MA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“saved much money buying it used... drives great”

GARY S., PA (2008 Ford Fusion)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

“Not sporty enough. Prefer more candy apple red color but had to settle for more burgundy.”

Anonymous, GA (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Styling has held up well. Still a great looking car!”

BENJAMIN T., KS (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Fine, loving it”

Anonymous, ME (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Looked good when it came out.”

JAMES W., TX (2008 Ford Fusion)

“Dash pad is warping in multiple areas due to the adhesive or dash foam breaking down. This caused the air vent for the defrosters to pop out and the area around the air bag to come loose.”

LARRY Y., OH (2008 Ford Fusion)
