    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"AC stopped working in the first year of ownership. It took Ford 3 years to finally switchout the AC unit and replace it"

Anonymous, ME (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"A/c compressor needed to be replaced after the truck had only 13,000 miles"

Anonymous, CA (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Automatic climate control

"The high speed fan would not engage during MAX A/C. There was no difference between highest speed on regular A/C then on MAX. Three major components needed to be replaced behind the dash. It was covered under warranty."

Anonymous A., GA (2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Heater system

"Heater is insufficient for the size of the interior"

Anonymous A., MI (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Refrigerant leaks

"Had to replace compressor and Freon leak. A few months later ac diverted had to be replaced and Freon added. Last month, Freon needed to be added again as there is obviously another leak. The truck is not driven that much that it would have these problems."

Anonymous, CA (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Torque converter

"The truck spent months in the dealer trying to figure out the problem and they finally did. It is supposed to be fixed but it still has problems. Would not buy a ford again."

Anonymous, WA (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Transmission rebuild or replacement

""time between shifts was very long, especially 3rd to 4th.""

Anonymous A., VA (2020 Ford Ranger XL 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    "Jerky performance- unreliable"

Anonymous A., CO (2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""Ford has an ongoing problem with 2019-2022 10R80 transmissions that they should recall but don't. They know about the problem but won't do a recall. Shifted hard from 1st to 3rd and struggled to find a gear moving from 3rd to 4th or 5th. I spent a month dealing with Ford on them picking up the $6k cost of replacing. I recently had the transmission replaced but out of pocket with trans fluid exchange, diagnostics, and trans replacement, about $2k. Very disappointed that it was a known problem but because I was out of warranty, it was on my dime. A very trying month of back and forth with the dealer and Ford motor company. Again, my cost for the trans replacement was $1600 and Ford picked up $3600 for a known issue that had many service bulletins in the last 3 or 4 years for the issue.""

Anonymous A., CA (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"It seemed to start quickly and then failed quickly."

Anonymous A., OK (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

    What Owners Say

    Driveshaft or axle

""My truck had vibration during highway speed braking. This was blamed on "warped" brake rotors, (that were turned and trued at my expense). Less than a week later I found grease and dirt caked on my rear right wheel rim. The right rear axle bearing and seal had become/had been damaged and the entire right rear axle assembly had to be replaced. I think the rotor on the right rear was caused by the misaligned axle? The dealership honored my warranty and covered the costs of repair and a rental during the month I was without my vehicle.""

Anonymous A., GA (2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""Axle seal leaked, replaced under factory warranty""

Anonymous A., NY (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Other engine starting/ignition problem

"There was only one problem with water getting around the spark plugs"

Anonymous, OH (2020 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"It starts to go then if abruptly pulls back or fun on low gears it will vibrate back or hesitate. Then it goes. Ford charges 100.00 for diagnostics fr each time you bring it in."

Anonymous, MA (2020 Ford Ranger XL 2.3-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
    Summary:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles.
