    Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Gear selector or linkage

"One feels the gear shifting and sometimes the RPM is hight"

    Anonymous, CA (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)
    Rough shifting

    "Problem continues"

    Anonymous, NY (2017 Genesis G80 V8 3.8-L V6)

""Hard Shifts into 3rd & 5th gear. Had a transmission shop look at it and couldn't diagnose problem. Does not seem to get worse, but not any better either.""

    Anonymous A., (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)

"Problem started around 125,000 miles and is intermittent. Transmission upshifts hard between 2-3 and 3-4 gears. Taken it to the dealer multiple times however they could never reproduce this issue since it is intermittent. After 30 minutes of city driving, the hard upshifting shows up. The "Genesis Technical Service Bulletin 21-AT-010HG (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SOLENOID REPLACEMENT)" explains the issue. https://www.tsbsearch.com/Genesis/21-AT-010HG"

    Anonymous, AL (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)
    Slipping transmission

"I had the transmission issue for about a year 2023/2024 brought the car into the Massachusetts dealership December 24 and the car wash repair April 25"

    Anonymous, (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)
    Transmission sensor or solenoid

""I brought it to a Genesis dealer only to be informed that Genesis dealers are not allowed to work on transmissions. I purchased it used in Dec/23 and seeing as it was cold I never experienced the rough shifting on a test drive. It's only after the car has warmed up that you notice it particularly in the lower gears. On a couple of occasions the differential slammed at the back of the vehicle so hard that I thought another car had rear ended me. From what I've read at on line car clubs, this problem can be resolved by changing all solenoids in the transmission. Eight gears so many solenoids.""

    Anonymous A., ON (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

"Car battery. If door wasnt closed just right the battery would need replacing the following morning. I finally figured that out myself after 5 batteries. BTW my car is a 2015 genesis"

    Anonymous A., NJ (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)

"Needed a new battery - replaced with new 8/13/2025"

    Anonymous, FL (2017 Genesis G80 V6 3.8-L V6)

""Air Bag light went on. Genesis sent letter indicating they were extending the warranty pertaining to this problem for another 10 years. Took car to dealership, but dealer said that air bag was the problem and it was not covered only the switch. Called Genesis and they said it "was up to the dealer whether or not to cover the air bag. Told me to go to another dealer to see if they would cover the air bag. Ridiculous, since when does a dealer determine whether or not a part was under warranty. Disappointed in Genesis.""

    Anonymous A., FL (2017 Genesis G80 V8 5.0-L V8)

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.
