The Genesis G80 is one of the nicest cars among mid-sized luxury cars. It may not have the brand cachet of the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but it's a formidable competitor delivering comfort, effortless acceleration, interior room and user-friendly controls.
Known for being a great value, the Genesis continues to be an enticing value proposition. Our all-wheel drive, 3.8-liter V6 test car cost about $10,000 less than a comparably equipped Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS, Jaguar XF, Lexus GS, or Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The G80 rides comfortably, has a quiet cabin and with any one of the available engines, provides ample motivation. Handling is respectable, but not overtly sporty.
The Genesis may not have the brand cachet of its European competitors, but shoppers will find that it delivers on substance. The Genesis is every bit as quiet, comfortable riding and refined as most competitors. In fact, it has an edge in terms of spaciousness and controls' ease of use with the exception of its gear selector.
The Genesis offers a suite of advanced safety features, including lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
Factor in the luxurious interior and lengthy warranty coverage, and the Genesis proves to be a compelling alternative to the traditional prestige brands.
With a Hyundai lineage albeit with a Genesis badge, you may not get the respect you were looking for at the country club, but at least you can afford the membership.
