The Acadia is one of four large, car-based SUVs from General Motors that have three rows of seats and can seat seven or eight passengers. It uses a 288-hp, 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic, combining to make a smooth and refined powertrain, although it hesitates to downshift when needed. The Acadia is available with front- or all-wheel drive.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"They're beautiful on the outside. The seating material and door panels are nice. Its the flooring, seat tracks, and storage. The flooring shouldn't be light colored in a vehicle geared for families. If your kids come with toys or electronic items there's no where to store them. The pouch on the back of the seat is tight. If you have an infant car seat in the second row there is no room between that and the drivers seat. If you put the third row up you can barely get a stroller in the back. The s"

"When approaching highway speed the transmission shifts too soon. If rapid acceleration is needed to merge into traffic, the transmission is forced to downshift twice resulting in the engine racing to near red line and the vehicle going nowhere. Other than that, the Acadia has been an excellent vehicle that is fun to drive, given its size, power, etc."

Anonymous, NE (2008 GMC Acadia)

"V6 with a 6 speed transmission. Under-powered. Vehicle is constantly shifting gears which is annoying and is not very economical."

Anonymous, MI (2008 GMC Acadia)

"Have always loved the styling of our 2008 Acadia. Have also always thought the vehicle was a bit under powered. When parked at an angle (front end lower than the rear end), the sun roof can leak a lot, flooding the dash area and ruining electronics. THIS has been a major issue three separate times in the 9 years we have had the vehicle."

Owen T., TX (2008 GMC Acadia)

"great handling and good acceleration"

Gerald B., OR (2008 GMC Acadia)

"very smooth ride and very comfortable. Acceleration is a little slow and seems to lack power but it was known as a typical issue with the vehicle when we bought it."

Anonymous, MB (2008 GMC Acadia)

"This vehicle is the preferred ride of my granddaughters due to DVD entertainment system & third row."

DUWANE B., MS (2008 GMC Acadia)

"Super comfortable seats. Love the center captains chairs so accessing the back wasn't a problem with car seats in the middle. Love the sun roof and window over center seats. Super easy to move seats around for storage"

JOAN K., MD (2008 GMC Acadia)

"The seats are comfortable and the ride is very quite."

Paul J., LA (2008 GMC Acadia)

"Very comfortable vehicle for driver and passengers. Very versatile as well - can hold lots of cargo or 7 adult passengers comfortably, or a combination of passengers & lots of cargo."

Richard B., WA (2008 GMC Acadia)

What Owners Say

"Still very stylish after 8 years. I would purchase the same style again."

JOHN L., TX (2008 GMC Acadia)
